While the database of tests on shear in reinforced concrete members without stirrups is extensive, pool test data for fiber-reinforced specimens limited. Fewer still are undertaken high-performance with fiber designed to carry full capacity. This paper reports results a testing program ultrahigh-performance steel beams. Eight prestressed beams were tested variables being span-to-depth ratio and quantity type fibers. The tests, together additional reported literature, compared values derived...
Abstract The main purpose of this research is to study the time dependent behaviour a geopolymer concrete. binder composed 85.2 % low calcium fly ash and only 14.8 ground granulated blast furnace slag. Both drying shrinkage creep are studied. In addition, different curing conditions at elevated temperature were used. All experimental results compared predictions made using Eurocode 2. regime plays an important role in magnitude development both class F based A minimum 3 days 40 °C or 1 day...
This paper presents the current state of practice in development ultrahigh-performance concrete (UHPC) bridge construction Malaysia. Since 2006, Dura Technology (DT) has pioneered research optimal uses UHPC through its Sustainable Bridge Construction Initiative. After several years and work, DT collaborated with Malaysia Works Ministry to design build bridges some their projects, especially those under rural program where sourcing material, site access, method are major challenges when using...
Abstract The material characterization of steel fibre‐reinforced concrete (SFRC), which is required for its implementation in design codes, should be based on nominal properties that describe post‐cracking strength tension. In the case brittle and quasi‐brittle materials, such as concrete, tensile parameters are often derived indirectly. However, materials with more ductility, SFRC, there conjecture to whether or not an indirect measure may used establish stress versus crack opening...
Experimental results from tests on seven 650 mm deep large-scale reactive powder concrete (RPC) I-section girders failing in shear are reported herein. The were cast using 150 170 MPa steel fiber RPC and designed to assess the capacity carry stresses thin webbed prestressed beams without reinforcement. showed that quantity types of fibers mix did not significantly affect initial cracking load but increasing volume increased failure load. A design model is developed calculate strength tested...
Abstract This paper examines the evidence for one‐way shear model developed fib Model Code Concrete Structures 2010 and provides examples of its application. For design analysis shear, members with without reinforcement, procedures have been from physical‐mechanical models that are based on observed behaviour at meso‐scale level; they represent a significant advance over previous standardized empirical methods. In addition, an approach referred to as “level approximation” (LoA) is...
This article presents an overview of the material characteristics a Malaysia blend ultra-high performance 'ductile' concrete (UHPdC). Examples environmental impact calculations UHPdC structures compared to that conventional reinforced (RC) design are presented. The comparison studies show many constructed from generally more environmentally sustainable than built RC with respect reduction CO2 emissions, embodied energy and global warming potential. enhanced durability also provides for...
Structures such as bridges, airport runways, marine installations, and railway tracks are often subjected to cyclic loads. These loads can result in a steady decrease the stiffness of structure cause damage at micro level that eventually leads fatigue failure. With advent steel-fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC), there exist possibilities enhancing performance structural level, compared members constructed conventional concrete. Experimental tests materials reported literature indicate steel...
An investigation of the shear behaviour steel-fibre-reinforced geopolymer concrete beams is presented. Shear tests were conducted on five series 250 mm deep by 120 wide spanning 2250 mm. The did not contain conventional web reinforcement (stirrups), but reinforced with end-hooked and straight steel fibres in various fibre volumetric dosages, ranging from 0 to 1·5%. test results show that strength increases significantly as content improvement cracking achieved through addition fibres....
