To investigate the role of HOX-like homeoprotein PDX1 in formation and maintenance pancreas, we have genetically engineered mice so that only source is a transgene can be controlled by application tetracycline or its analogue doxycycline. Pancreatic agenesis is a human disorder caused by defects in pancreas development. To date, only few genes have been linked to pancreatic humans, with mutations and duodenal homeobox 1 (PDX1) pancreas-specific transcription factor 1a (PTF1A) reported 5 families described cases. Recently, GATA6 identified large percentage of cases, GATA4 mutant allele has implicated single case. In the mouse, Gata4 Gata6 are expressed several endoderm-derived tissues, including pancreas. analyze functions...

The timing and gene regulatory logic of organ-fate commitment from within the posterior foregut mammalian endoderm is largely unexplored. Transient misexpression a presumed pancreatic-commitment transcription factor, Ptf1a, in embryonic mouse (Ptf1aEDD) dramatically expanded pancreatic network foregut. Ptf1aEDD temporarily suppressed Sox2 broadly over anterior endoderm. Pancreas-proximal organ territories underwent full tissue conversion. Early-stage rapidly endogenous endodermal...

Abstract A procedure has been developed which permits the direct analysis of powdered whole-coal samples by atomic absorption or emission methods using conventional instrumentation, thereby eliminating time-consuming ashing and sample-digestion procedures. Linear plots signal intensity versus elemental concentration analyzed were obtained for several elements. Preliminary results indicate this method is applicable estimation both minor-level (eg., Fe Ca) trace-level Pb Zn) constituents.
