Using the multi-integral field spectrograph GIRAFFE at VLT, we have derived K-band Tully-Fisher relation (TFR) for a representative sample of 65 galaxies with emission lines ( Å). We confirm that scatter in TFR is caused by anomalous kinematics, and find positive strong correlation between complexity kinematics they contribute to TFR. Considering only relaxed-rotating disks, scatter, possibly also slope, TFR, do not appear evolve redshift. detect an evolution zero point , which, if...

Context. This paper prepares a series of papers analysing the Intermediate MAss Galaxy Evolution Sequence (IMAGES) up to redshift one. mass galaxies () are selected from Chandra Deep Field South (CDFS) for which we identify serious lack spectroscopically determined redshifts.

Nearly half the stellar mass of present-day spiral galaxies has formed since , and galaxy kinematics is an ideal tool to identify underlying mechanisms responsible for assembly that epoch. Here, we present first results ESO large program, "IMAGES", which aims at obtaining robust measurements distant using multi-IFU mode GIRAFFE on VLT. 3D spectroscopy essential robustly measure often distorted (e.g., Flores et al. 2006, A&A, 455, 107). Context. Intermediate mass galaxies (> 1010 ) at z ~ 0.6 are the likeliest progenitors of present-day, numerous population spirals. There is growing evidence that they have evolved rapidly in last 6 to 8 Gyr, and likely already formed a significant fraction their stellar mass, often showing perturbed morphologies kinematics.

To address how the galaxy Hubble sequence is established and what physical processes are involved, we studied morphological properties internal structures of field galaxies in past (0.4<z<1). In addition to structural parameters derived from bulge+disk decomposition, Zheng et al. (2004) introduced color maps recognizing properly classified morphologies 36 luminous infrared (LIRGs, Lir(8-1000um)>=10^11 L_sun). Here presented classification a parallel 75 non-LIRG sample. Context.Luminous Compact Galaxies (LCGs) (, 4.5 kpc and EW0(OII) ≥ 15 Å) constitute one of the most rapidly evolving galaxy populations over last ~8 Gyr history universe. Due to their inherently compact sizes, any detailed quantitative analysis morphologies has proved be difficult in past. Hence, thereby local counterparts these enigmatic sources have been hotly debated.
