Acrylamide in food productschiefly commercially available potato chips, fries, cereals, and breadwas determined by liquid chromatography−tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Samples were homogenized with water/dichloromethane, centrifuged, filtered through a 5 kDa filter. The filtrate was cleaned up on mixed mode, anion cation exchange (Oasis MAX MCX) carbon (Envirocarb) cartridges. Analysis done isotope dilution ([D3]- or [13C3]acrylamide) electrospray LC-MS/MS using 2 × 150 mm (or 100 mm)...

A polysulfide material was synthesized by the direct reaction of sulfur and d-limonene, by-products petroleum citrus industries, respectively. The resulting processed into functional coatings or molded solid devices for removal palladium mercury salts from water soil. binding mercury(II) to sulfur-limonene resulted in a color change. These properties motivate application next-generation environmental remediation sensing.

Abstract Mercury pollution threatens the environment and human health across globe. This neurotoxic substance is encountered in artisanal gold mining, coal combustion, oil gas refining, waste incineration, chloralkali plant operation, metallurgy, areas of agriculture which mercury‐rich fungicides are used. Thousands tonnes mercury emitted annually through these activities. With Minamata Convention on entering force this year, increasing regulation imminent. It therefore critical to provide...

Sulfur is an underused by-product of the petrochemicals industry. Recent research into inverse vulcanization has shown how this excess sulfur can be transformed functional polymers, by stabilization with organic crosslinkers. For these interesting new materials to realize their potential for applications, more understanding and control physical properties needed. Here we report four terpolymers prepared from two distinct alkene monomers that predictively tuned in glass transition, molecular...
