This paper continues the debate concerning availability of Universal Grammar (UG) to adult L2 acquirers. Specifically, an analysis native (prodrop) Romance speakers' acquisition negative placement in German is provided. Contrary Clahsen (1987; 1988a) and Muysken (1988), we argue that a UG-based for three stages NEGplacement not only possible but fact provides independent support analyses developmental sequence found L1 Romance, Verb (duPlessis et al, 1987; Schwartz Tomaselli, 1988). In...
The high precision measurement of the hyperfine splitting muonic-hydrogen atom ground state with pulsed and intense muon beam requires careful technological choices both in construction a gas target detectors. In June 2014, pressurized FAMU experiment was exposed to low energy at RIKEN RAL facility. objectives test were characterization target, hodoscope X-ray apparatus consisted X-rays detectors made purity Germanium Lanthanum Bromide crystals. this paper experimental setup is described...
In physical rehabilitation, is diffused the skin irradiation with near infrared laser at a fluence below 140 J/cm', achieving bio-stimulating effect that due to absorption of radiation in mitochondria rather than simple heating tissues. order deliver without thermal damage skin, are used pulses which duration does not allow heat accumulation and propagation far from irradiated target; this requires sources average power 10 W implying safety classification as "potentially dangerous for eye...
Abstract Purpose Most patients with Turner Syndrome (TS) require Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Androgen levels could be compromised due to both ovarian insufficiency and HRT. Despite this, the association between androgen deficiency, sexual health, body image perception remains underexplored in these patients. This study aimed assess hormone levels, function, women TS, categorized by karyotype HRT regimen. Methods A cross-sectional analysis of 29 TS was performed. Clinical, hormonal,...
Abstract Introduction Medical therapy for Cushing's syndrome (CS) typically aims to reduce daily cortisol output without addressing circadian rhythm restoration. No licensed drugs target this objective. We investigated the efficacy and safety of timed, once-daily osilodrostat administration in improving profiles CS. Methods A prospective, multicenter study evaluated patients with well-controlled CS on a stable twice-daily before 60-90 days after transitioning single equivalent dose at 19:00...
We show that the large effective optical nonlinearity, which is produced by cascaded second-order processes, allows us to accomplish frequency conversion of a signal pulse with pump moderate intensity. In 1 cm long β-barium borate crystal, effect enhances 5 orders magnitude efficiency mixing process. The enhancement larger than 104 even in non-phase-matched condition for intermediate second-harmonic field, when imaginary part induced nonlinear susceptibility negligible.
Measurements of the two-photon absorption coefficient in semiconductor-doped glasses were performed. The imaginary part third-order optical susceptibility semiconductor particles is derived by combining nonlinear-optical-transmission data with small-angle neutron-scattering (SANS) results, which give volume fraction nanocrystals. We find that absorptive nonlinearity nanocrystals (with radii, also measured SANS, range 2--11 nm) close to bulk semiconductor, contrast recent predictions and data.
Abstract The aim of this contribution is twofold: (i) providing a detailed description subordination in Cimbrian and (ii) discussing the concept language contact terms feature transfer. As has been recently pointed out, declarative relative clauses display unique pattern among German dialects w.r.t. embedding. In fact, different complementizers trigger syntax as regards position finite verb. our contribution, we extend analysis to adverbial for first time also investigate double embedding...
Abstract Background Limited information exists on postoperative hypocortisolism and hypothalamus–pituitary–adrenal axis recovery in patients with adrenal incidentaloma following unilateral adrenalectomy. We evaluated frequency of predictors for non-aldosterone-producing adrenocortical adenoma after Methods A retrospective analysis 32 originally included the ITACA trial (NCT04127552) confirmed undergoing adrenalectomy from September 2019 to April 2023 was conducted. Preoperative assessments...
We report on a simple design for multi-GHz tunable-repetition-rate diode-pumped picosecond laser. Using plano-Brewster Nd:GdVO4 crystal in V-folded cavity employing only readily available commercial components, we achieved passive mode-locking with 4.4-ps pulses tunable the range 2.5-2.7 GHz. This laser is meant to be employed MIR experiment that aims at detection of Schwinger radiation (dynamical Casimir effect).
Abstract Context Patients with primary (PAI) and secondary adrenal insufficiency (SAI) experience bone metabolism alterations, possibly due to excessive replacement. Dual-release hydrocortisone (DR-HC) has shown promising effects on several parameters, but seldom been investigated. Objective We evaluated the long-term of once-daily DR-HC in PAI SAI. Methods immediate-release glucocorticoid therapy were before up 6 years (range, 4-6) after switching equivalent doses DR-HC, yielding data...
In semiconductor industry, pulsed nanosecond lasers are widely applied for the separation of silicon wafers. Here, high intensities employed activate a cascade complex multi-physical and multi-phase mechanisms, which finally result in formation laser induced plasma, shielding target from incoming beam. Such plasma plume, by preventing to effectively reach target, reduces overall efficiency controllability ablation process. Modelling can be useful tool optimization industrial applications,...
Lexical expletives can be divided into two main classes: (i) CP required by the V2 constraint and, hence, necessity to lexicalize position on left of inflected verb and (ii) TP connected with negative value pro-drop parameter therefore, ’structural‘ subject position, specifically, [Spec, TP]. The latter can, in turn, subclasses: impersonal subjects positional expletives, which occur postverbal/low extraposed clauses. While only appear Germanic varieties that maintain V2, subclassification...
The method originally proposed by Siegman [ Opt. Lett.1, 13 ( 1977)] for evaluating numerically the Hankel transform fast-Fourier-transform techniques is reconsidered. A novel analytical form found that permits a numerical computation of with accuracy comparable Siegman's approach without lower-end corrections; but simplicity and efficiency original remains unsurpassed.
A diode-pumped single-pass amplifier system relying on two grazing-incidence Nd:YVO(4) slabs was developed to increase the energy of low-repetition-rate pulses from a decimated low-power cw mode-locked oscillator. Single-pass unsaturated gain up 1.3x10(5) achieved, and amplified 10-muJ 8.0-ps duration were obtained. Efficient second harmonic generation (SHG) at 532 nm as well traveling-wave parametric conversion in range 770-1020 (signal) 1110-1720 (idler).
