Large constellations of bright artificial satellites in low Earth orbit pose significant challenges to ground-based astronomy1. Current orbiting constellation have brightnesses between apparent magnitudes 4 and 6, whereas the near-infrared Ks band, they can reach magnitude 2 (ref. 2). Satellite operators, astronomers other users night sky are working on brightness mitigation strategies3,4. Radio emissions induce further potential risk radio telescopes that also need be evaluated. Here we...
Large sub-Neptunes are uncommon around the coolest stars in Galaxy and rarer still those that metal-poor. However, owing to large planet-to-star radius ratio, these planets highly suitable for atmospheric study via transmission spectroscopy infrared, such as with JWST. Here we report discovery validation of a sub-Neptune orbiting thick-disk, mid-M dwarf star TOI-2406. We first infer properties host by analysing star's near-infrared spectrum, spectral energy distribution, Gaia parallax. use...
Me 2-1 is a high-excitation planetary nebula whose morphology and physical structure have not yet been investigated. We present narrow-band images in several emission lines, high- intermediate-resolution long-slit spectra aimed at investigating its 3D structure, parameters chemical abundances. By applying deconvolution techniques to the images, we identified 2-1: an elliptical ring; two elongated, curved structures (caps) that contain three pairs of bright point-symmetric (PS) knots; shell...
We have carried out continuum and line polarisation observations of two Proto-planetary nebulae (PPNe), CRL 618 OH 231.8+4.2, using the Submillimeter Array (SMA) in its compact configuration. The frequency range observations, 330-345 GHz, includes CO(J=3-2) emission. 231.8+4.2 show quadrupolar bipolar optical lobes, respectively, surrounded by a dusty envelope reminiscent their AGB phase. report detection dust polarised emission both PPNe above 4 sigma but no molecular 3 limit. is slightly...
We present narrow-band Halpha and [OIII] images, high-resolution, long-slit spectra of the planetary nebulae (PNe) Abell36, DeHt2, RWT152 aimed at studying their morphology internal kinematics. These data are complemented with intermediate-resolution, to describe spectral properties central stars nebulae. The morphokinematical analysis shows that Abell36 consists an inner spheroid two bright point-symmetric arcs; DeHt2 is elliptical protruding polar regions a non-equatorial ring; bipolar....
Aims.We analyse the point-symmetric planetary nebula NGC 6309 in terms of its three-dimensional structure and internal variations physical conditions to deduce processes involved formation.
We present new narrow-band Hα, [N ii], and [O iii] high-resolution images of the quadrupolar planetary nebula NGC 6309 that show in great detail its bipolar lobes reveal morphological features. New high- low-dispersion long-slit spectra have been obtained to help investigation nebular components. The unveil two diffuse blobs, one them located ≃55 arcsec from central star along NE direction (PA = +71°) other at ≃ 78 SW –151°). Therefore, these structures do not share symmetry axes inner...
(Abridged) The origin of hot subdwarf O-type stars (sdOs) remains unclear since their discovery in 1947. Among others, a post-Asymptotic Giant Branch (post-AGB) is possible for fraction sdOs. We are involved comprehensive ongoing study to search and analyze planetary nebulae (PNe) around sdOs with the aim establishing properties post-AGB origin. use deep Halpha [OIII] images detect nebular emission intermediate resolution, long-slit optical spectroscopy detected sdO central stars. We present narrow-band [O III]lambda5007 and H-alpha images, as well long-slit high-resolution echelle spectra of the planetary nebula NGC 6058. Our data reveal that 6058 is a multipolar about ~45 arcsec in extent formed by four bipolar outflows are oriented at different position angles. Assuming homologous expansion for all structures, distance 3.5 kpc, we obtain polar velocities around ~68 km s^-1 three them. The estimated kinematical ages suggest oldest have been ejected intervals ~ 1100...
In order to investigate the characteristics and influence of magnetic field in evolved stars, we performed a follow-up investigation our previous submillimeter analysis proto-planetary nebula (PPN) OH 231.8+4.2 (Sabin et al. 2014), this time at 1.3 mm with CARMA facility polarisation mode for purpose multi-scale analysis.OH was observed ∼ 2.5 ′′ resolution detected polarised emission above 3σ threshold (with mean fraction 3.5%).The map indicates an overall organised within nebula. The main...
In this paper we present the results of optical high-resolution imaging and spectroscopy complex planetary nebula (PN) NGC 3242. Our study is based on analysis narrow-band Hα λ6563, [O iii] λ5007, [N ii] λ6584, [S λ6724 Å images, using spectral ranges centred λ6564, λ6583, λ5007 Å. We detected analysed morphological components beyond multiple-shell structure PN, to investigate small-scale aligned towards its major axis (such as knots ansae, well arc-like features) surroundings. Thus,...
We present the first part of an investigation on planetary nebula (PN) PC 22 which focuses use deep imaging and high resolution echelle spectroscopy to perform a detailed morpho-kinematical analysis. is revealed be multipolar PN emitting predominantly in [O III] displaying multiple non-symmetric outflows. Its central region found also particularly inhomogeneous with series low ionization structures (knots) located path The model obtained SHAPE indicates that i) de-projected velocities...
We present narrow-band, broad-band and Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) archive images, high- intermediate-resolution long-slit spectra of K4-37, a planetary nebula that has never been analysed in detail. Although K4-37 appears bipolar, the morphokinematical analysis discloses existence three distinct axes additional particular directions object, indicating is multi-axis probably shaped by several bipolar outflows at different directions. A 4–6 M⊙ main-sequence progenitor estimated...

IRAS 22568+6141 has been classified as a low-excitation planetary nebula (PN) and presents non-thermal radio continuum emission, which could be signature of nascent PNe. We present intermediate-resolution long-slit spectra obtained in 2021 2023, high-resolution taken light curve at the r filter between 1953 2019. They all reveal changes with timescales decades few years. The object underwent an energetic event around 1990 that suddenly increased its brightness, fading since then. A...
