From the 3000 km2 Eoarchean Itsaq Gneiss Complex (IGC) of Greenland, zircon U-Pb dating numerous meta-granitoid and orthogneiss samples is integrated with geologic observations, whole rock geochemistry a strategic subset Hf Nd isotopic measurements. This shows that there are multiple episodes TTG suite formation from ∼3890 to 3660 Ma, characterized by initial εHf≈0 εNd > +2. These rocks mostly have geochemical signatures partial melting eclogitized mafic sources, high magnesian, low silica...
This study presents sensitive high-resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP) U-Pb zircon ages, K-Ar and whole-rock chemical isotopic (Sr-Nd) compositions of the Early Cretaceous igneous activity in western South Korea. The volcanics plutons yield ages ca. 110 Ma, Albian late Cretaceous. biotite plagioclase are slightly younger, 103 Ma. geochemical signatures rocks characterized by negative Nb, Ta, Ti anomalies, relatively low ϵNd(T) values (between −15.91 −9.36), enrichment light rare earth...
A coherent granulite complex has been discovered in the central part of Korean Peninsula, formerly regarded as eastern Imjingang belt. This (Hwacheon [HGC]) experienced two cycles tectonometamorphic events. The first event corresponded to crustal thickening, followed by peak granulite‐facies metamorphism and associated partial melting. quasi‐isobaric cooling path, suggested occurrences secondary garnet mantling orthopyroxene kyanite mafic pelitic granulites, respectively, indicates...
The dissolution of Al 2 O 3 and MgO inclusions in synthetic CaO‐Al ‐MgO slags have been investigated situ with a confocal scanning laser microscope (CSLM). mechanisms were elucidated by using analytical‐rate expressions. A set parameters is introduced to distinguish between reaction control diffusion the process. It was found that whereas inclusion rates are limited diffusion, appears be surface reaction. For both MgO, rate apparent activation energy increased when slag composition slightly...
