Newtonian pipe flow is known to be linearly stable at all Reynolds numbers. We report, for the first time, a linear instability of pressure-driven viscoelastic fluid, obeying Oldroyd-B constitutive equation commonly used model dilute polymer solutions. The shown exist numbers significantly lower than those which transition turbulence typically observed flow. Our results qualitatively explain experimental observations in solutions rates where absent. discussed here should form stage hitherto...

Viscoelastic plane Poiseuille flow is shown to become linearly unstable in the absence of inertia, limit high elasticities, for ultradilute polymer solutions. While inertialess elastic instabilities have been predicted curvilinear shear flows, this first ever report a purely linear instability rectilinear flow. The novel continues up Reynolds number (Re) $O(1000)$, corresponding recently identified elasto-inertial turbulent state believed underlie maximum-drag-reduced regime. Thus, highly...

A purely elastic linear instability was recently reported for viscoelastic plane Poiseuille flow in the limit of ultra-dilute (solvent to solution viscosity ratio $\beta \gt 0.99$ ), highly (Weissenberg number $W \sim 1000$ ) polymer solutions, within framework Oldroyd-B model (Khalid et al. , Phys. Rev. Lett., vol. 127, 2021, pp. 134–502). This is first instance a strictly rectilinear shearing flow, with phase speed unstable ‘centre mode’ being close base-state maximum velocity at channel...

A modal stability analysis shows that plane Poiseuille flow of an Oldroyd-B fluid becomes unstable to a `center mode' with phase speed close the maximum base-flow velocity, $U_{max}$. The governing dimensionless groups are Reynolds number $Re = \rho U_{max} H/\eta$, elasticity $E \lambda \eta/(H^2\rho)$, and ratio solvent solution viscosity $\eta_s/\eta$; here, $\lambda$ is polymer relaxation time, $H$ channel half-width, $\rho$ density. For experimentally relevant values (e.g., \sim 0.1$...

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in evaluation tubercular spondylitis and correlate findings with clinical severity disease. One hundred consecutive patients, who presented features suggestive spinal infections, were subjected MRI examination. T1W STIR images obtained followed by T2W post-contrast images. Various characteristics infections noted correlated disease.Backache was most common presenting symptom present 86 %, while paraparesis sign...

We examine the linear stability of gravity-driven flow a viscoelastic fluid film down an inclined plane. The is modeled using Oldroyd-B constitutive equation and, therefore, exhibits constant shear viscosity and positive first normal stress difference in viscometric shearing flows; latter class flows includes aforesaid film-flow configuration. show that configuration susceptible to two distinct purely elastic instabilities inertialess limit. instability owes its origin entirely existence...
