Abstract Energy, spectral and temporal characteristics of a Ce 3+ -doped chalcogenide glass fiber laser continuously pumped by 4.16 μ m Fe 2+ :ZnSe were investigated. Milliwatt level output power was obtained. In case low Q-factor the resonator operated at λ = 4.62 corresponding to narrow peak in emission spectrum. At higher Q-factor, lasing wavelength changed 5.0–5.1 plateau gain contrast Tb mid-infrared lasers, had no tendency non-relaxing spike operation.

Efficient lasing of Ga-rich BGG bulk glasses doped with Tm 3+ is demonstrated. Two samples ion concentrations 1.27×10 20 cm −3 and 2.54×10 were tested for their laser performance. We report a laser operation from Fe:CdTe single crystal, pumped by 40-ns pulses of 4.12-µm Fe:ZnSe laser. The maximum output energy 5.8 mJ was produced at 5.4 µm with 30% absorbed slope efficiency. We report on ultra-short stretched pulse generation in an all-fiber erbium-doped ring laser with a highly-nonlinear germanosilicate fiber inside the resonator slightly positive net-cavity group velocity dispersion (GVD). Stable 84 fs pulses were obtained 12 MHz repetition rate at central wavelength of 1560 nm 48.1 spectral width (full half maximum, FWHM) and 30 mW average output power; this corresponds to 29.7 kW maximum peak power 2.5 nJ energy immediately from oscillator.

We report on a gain-switched operation of single-crystal Fe2+:ZnSe pumped by coupled-cavity Q-switched Er3+:ZrF4 fiber laser. With this approach, we use continuous wave Er-doped ZrF4 laser whose cavity is coupled with the Fe:ZnSe cavity. A stable Q switching was achieved in case and, as result, obtained. In this Letter, we demonstrate a single-stage erbium-doped fluoride fiber amplifier composed of two spliced large core fibers with respective diameters 85 and 130 µm.
