Zika virus (ZIKV) infection acquired during pregnancy is associated with congenital microcephaly. We describe 2 cases of ZIKV in women their 36th week whose fetuses had preserved head circumference at birth and findings subependymal cysts lenticulostriate vasculopathy postnatal imaging. These represent the first signs brain injury due to third trimester.
Periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) is a frequent consequence of hypoxic-ischemic injury. Functional cytokine gene variants that result in altered production inflammatory (tumor necrosis factor-alpha [TNF-α] and interleukin-1beta [IL-1β]) or anti-inflammatory (interleukin-10 [IL-10]) cytokines may modify disease processes, including PVL.The aim this study was to evaluate if there relationship between the two proinflammatory polymorphisms (TNF-α-1031T/C IL-1β-511C/T) polymorphism IL-10-1082G/A...
Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) or leucinosis is caused by a deficiency of the catalytic components the α-ketoacid-dehydrogenase complex, which responsible for catabolism branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, and valine)1,2. It an inherited genetic with autosomal recessive pattern affecting approximately 1 out 120,000-500,000 infants worldwide3,4 […] Contribution diffusion-weighted MRI in diagnosis follow-up encephalopathy maple full-term newborn
To describe the evolution and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy (RLPS) in children.Nine children with neurologic symptoms sudden increase arterial pressure were studied by brain MRI.All evaluated had lesions seen on FLAIR-weighted images parietal-occipital regions. Other regions also involved. Four patients presented restriction diffusion-weighted only two reduction apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), which evolved sequels persistence...
Introduction: Corrective surgery for craniosynostosis presents several challenges to students during their training, with obtaining practical experience being one of the main obstacles. The neurocranium is formed by bony structures that surround brain, thus ensuring its protection. During first years life, baby's skull grows exponentially. Understanding normal growth and development cranial shape essential monitoring development, detecting abnormalities, evaluating long-term results surgery....

Noninvasive collection of cells used for generation induced pluripotent stem (iPSC) would simplify its use regenerative and reproductive purposes in veterinary medicine, although it is still unpublished species other than humans. This study aimed to derive urine progenitor (UPCs) invitro from samples collected swine, then reprogram them into iPSCs. For that, were three females, isolated cultured each following the human UPCs protocol (Steichen et al. 2017 Curr. Protoc. Hum. Genet. 21,...
Abnormalities in the different stages of intestinal maturation process cause metabolic and molecular changes. Among genetic alterations associated with necrotizing enterocolitis, -94ins/delATTG polymorphism NFKB1 gene leads to unregulated activation NFKB protein due an increase inherent pro-inflammatory state premature intestine. To determine prevalence neonates without enterocolitis. This is a case-control study, which 25 were evaluated as case group 50 control group, both genders. DNA was...
