Abstract Polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit has occupied more than 90% of the total drilling footage in world. Forensic analysis dull PDC bits is an important research field that can investigate multiple factors and then find main failure cause. The findings forensic not only guide selection placement next but also promote advancement bits. In this study, pulled out hole was photographed, a carried out. Based on 45 bits, causes were divided into three categories: impact, wear,...

The action of freeze–thaw (F–T) cycles claystone exerts a profound impact on the slope stability open-pit mines in water-rich regions. Microstructural changes are observed as crucial factor determining hydraulic characteristics and mechanical behaviors claystone. present work integrates micro-X-ray computed tomography (Micro-CT) scanner, equipped with image processing three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction capabilities, employed to observe microstructure under varying numbers F–T (0, 10, 20,...

Significant difference between predicted and measured installation resistance of stiffened suction caissons was identified due to the existing uncertainty regarding mobilized soil flow mechanisms. This paper describes an extensive investigation square caisson penetration in nonhomogeneous clays undertaken through large deformation FE (LDFE) analysis identify mechanisms around lateral ring stiffeners. A detailed parametric study has been carried out, exploring a range nondimensional...

This paper presents a novel approach to addressing the challenges of manual on-site detection bridge cracks, including time-consuming, labor-intensive, low safety factor, and identification accuracy. The proposed method is based on an improved version YOLO v3 algorithm for crack object detection. achieves cracks. experimental results show that accuracy 90.26% test set has good recognition performance.

The offshore engineering develop fast in recent years, a new method named “big-size sandbag cofferdam” is applied to many practical projects China. made of geotextile with large sizes length and width. Sandbags are filled pumped sea sand stacked together layer by layer. Many theoretical obstacles remain unsolved, which has restricted the application this advanced technology. Based on an instability project located Bohai Bay, failure mode big-size cofferdam soft foundation was studied....
