We present a beacon-based clustering algorithm aimed at prolonging the cluster lifetime in VANETs. use new aggregate local mobility criterion to decide upon re-organisation. The scheme incorporates contention method avoid triggering frequent re-organisations when two clusterheads encounter each other for short period of time. Simulation results show significant improvement and reduced node state/role changes compared previous popular algorithms.

The Smart-Condo is a hardware/software platform that aims to support and assist an individual in performing variety of everyday tasks within his/her living space. key achieving this goal being able recognize the individual's general activities real-time, without impeding these or compromising privacy. Since location movement constitute meaningful evidence for many (e.g., presence bathroom correlates with personal hygiene activities), we are motivated develop efficient, accurate, noninvasive...

In this paper, we consider the exact top-k query problem in wireless sensor networks, i.e., where one seeks to find k highest reported values as well complete set of nodes that them. Our primary contribution context is EXTOK, a provably correct and topology-independent new filtering-based algorithm for processing queries. As secondary confirm previous result ours by showing efficiency algorithms, including can be further improved simply choosing proper underlying logical tree topology. We...

Providing affordable, high-quality healthcare to the elderly while enabling them live independently longer is of critical importance, as this an increasing and expensive demographic treat. Sensor-network technologies are essential developing assisted living environments. In our Smart Condo project, we have deployed a sensor network with variety types in 850 square-foot condominium. The records events environmental parameters feeds related data into web-based system. This system responsible...

The growing adoption of Distributed Energy Re-sources (DER) in low-voltage distribution grids calls for new feedback control algorithms that rely on quasi-real-time data collected by remote sensors. design and evaluation such necessitates a prudent comprehensive approach since these require tight integration power communication systems. A simple link failure or sophisticated cyberattack launched against the grid's monitoring, communication, infrastructure could rapidly grow out control,...

Augmented/Alternate Reality Games are a relatively new, yet increasingly interesting, class of social applications. These games fundamentally intertwined with the players' real life, in that everyday activities generate events advance game logic. At same time, they augment "regular" game-related tasks and challenges rich digital content is communicated to players through variety devices, usually augmenting their mobile-device views. In our work, we have been developing software framework,...

We consider the problem of estimating location people as they move and work in indoor environments. More specifically, we focus on scenario where one persons interest is unable or unwilling to carry a smartphone, any other “wearable” device, which frequently arises caregiver/cared-for situations. case spaces populated with anonymous binary sensors (Passive Infrared motion sensors) eponymous wearable (smartphones interacting Estimote beacons), propose solution resulting sensor-fusion problem....

With the growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and advent bidirectional chargers, EV aggregators, such as charging stations, will become a major player in electricity markets, providing voltage regulation (VR) or other services. We present novel practical VR scheme that takes advantage flexibility EVs stations are connected to buses distribution grid. This relies on real-time measurements, well estimates system state capacity each station. then propose false data injection attack...

In order to address the scalability problems of video-on-demand systems, several periodic broadcast schemes have been proposed that partition a video into segments and repetitively each segment on separate channel. A new scheme is presented for bandwidth-efficient video. The determines sizes their corresponding channel bandwidths as result non-linear optimization problem which minimizes total required bandwidth broadcast. outperforms existing in terms demands while it also decouples playout...

We study a collection of K-shortest path routing schemes and investigate their performance under diverse set network topologies traffic conditions. subsequently demonstrate that offers lower blocking probability more balanced link utilisation than other methods. With the proposed approach, it is possible to reduce frequency state exchange, incurred bandwidth overhead, without sacrificing overall network.

The low-powered transmissions in a wireless sensor network (WSN) are highly susceptible to interference from external sources. Our work is step towards enabling WSN devices better understand the their environment so that they can adapt it and communicate more efficiently.
