This article interweaves the widely published empirical frameworks with a new paradigm proposing stochastic dynamic decision-making tools that could be employed for capturing trade-offs among multiple and conflicting-in-nature criteria so as to provide design of resilient shock absorber (RSA) disrupted supply chain network (SCN). Modern SCNs encounter ‘excursion events’ different kinds mainly due uncertain turbulent markets, catastrophes, accidents, industrial disputes/strikes in...
This paper presents a simulation study on production and inventory control at the supply chain (SC) level examines through series of experiments potential impact Hybrid Kanban-CONWIP strategy trade-off between conflicting objectives maximising customer service minimising Work-In-Process (WIP).Simulation based optimisation is computationally expensive approach to determining an optimal configuration operational parameters for any stochastic system. In this we demonstrate framework that will...
Purpose The aims of this paper is to investigate simulation‐based optimisation and stochastic dominance testing while employing kanban ‐like production control strategies (PCS) operating dedicated and, where applicable, shared card allocation policies in a multi‐product system with negligible set‐up times consideration for robustness uncertainty. Design/methodology/approach Discrete event simulation genetic algorithm were utilised optimise the parameters strategy (KCS), CONWIP base stock...
COVID-19, Brexit, war, and some other similar cases will leave/have left us with a lesson that has had an impact on the supply chains of almost all product types. Countries have now recognized products cannot be sustained in situation uncertainty. This research covers gap understanding identifying successful factors affecting criticality level required intermediate final (IFP) at national level. It investigates relationship between two factors: casual factor risk (independent factor);...
This paper evaluates the performance of Hybrid Kanban Constant Work-In-Process control strategy and Basestock operating Shared Allocation Policy (S-KAP) Dedicated (D-KAP) in a multi-product serial flow line. We explored effect an increase product types on WIP inventory system. A simulation-based optimisation technique was used determining optimal settings for strategies. The strategies were compared via pairwise comparison Nelson's ranking selection procedure. S-KAP responds quicker to...
The cost of acquiring commercial simulation packages is considerably high and this might explain why organisations are often reluctant to make further investments on training retraining employees modelling. Ironically, the level benefit derived from highly dependent experimental, analytical statistical skills user. These skill requirements an unattractive decision support tool SMEs small multinational organisations. Proposed in study ManPy, a semantic-free open- source approach discrete...
This paper presents a comparison of five lean production control strategies, namely Kanban strategy, CONWIP, Hybrid Kanban-CONWIP, basestock strategy and extended strategy. The strategies were examined under light-to-medium demand load with increasing coefficient variation. Discrete event simulation was used to compare the performances criteria obtaining given service level minimal WIP. results show that variable Kanban-CONWIP is best KCS consistently worst performer.
Managing demand variability is a challenging task in manufacturing environments. Organizations that implemented Kanban-Like Production Control Strategies (PCS) especially multi-product environment (MPME) plan large volume of production authorization cards (PAC) to respond variability. The issue associated with high PAC for each part-type MPME proliferation Work-In-Process (WIP). Shared Kanban Allocation Policy (S-KAP) was recently proposed the literature allow various part-types share PAC....

This paper describes a test implementation of the Core Manufacturing Simulation Data (CMSD) information model and integration initialisation simulation in newly developed Engine. The cost developing, implementing using technology is high. costs integrating models with other manufacturing applications are even higher. There always need to enable data exchange sharing between software applications. idea CMSD effort facilitate above neutral, reusable structures for managing actual production...
This paper conceptualises an analytical framework meant for resiliency of supply-chain networks by assessing excursion events. Modern (SCNs) face events various kinds mainly due to uncertain and turbulent markets, catastrophes, accidents, industrial disputes/strikes in organisations terrorism. An ldquoexcursion eventrdquo is unpredictable event that effectively shuts-down or negatively impacts the performance at least one node/member a system relatively long amount time. In this paper, has...
Assembly line balancing (ALB) is a well-known combinatorial optimization problem in production and operations management area. Due to the NP-hard nature of ALB problem, many attempts have been made solve efficiently. In this study, biologically inspired evolutionary computing tool which genetic algorithm (GA) adopted with objective minimizing idle time workstation. The key issue solving how generate feasible task sequence does not violate precedence constraints. This sequencing vital work be...
