This study reports results from the first International Body Project (IBP-I), which surveyed 7,434 individuals in 10 major world regions about body weight ideals and dissatisfaction. Participants completed female Contour Drawing Figure Rating Scale (CDFRS) self-reported their exposure to Western local media. Results indicated there were significant cross-regional differences ideal figure dissatisfaction, but effect sizes small across high-socioeconomic-status (SES) sites. Within cultures,...

Abstract A key challenge in efficient molecular separation is fabricating large‐scale, highly selective polymeric membranes with precise pore control at the scale. Herein, a new contorted monomer 6,6′‐dihydroxy‐2,2′‐biphenyldiamine (DHBIPDA) introduced as building block to generate cross‐linked, ultra‐thin microporous nanofilms (sub‐10 nm) via interfacial polymerization, enabling rapid, and nanofiltration. Using diacyl chloride (TPC) cross‐linker instead of trimesoyl (TMC) significantly...

Covalent organic framework (COF) membranes are attractive candidates for molecular separation. Herein, COF-LZU1 composite were prepared by a stoichiometric spraying layer-by-layer self-assembly method the first time. The displayed high rejection (>90%) and permeance (>400 L m-2 h-1 MPa-1, 50-880% higher than traditional membranes) dyes (Mw 350-800).

Abstract Many fouling-resistant materials have been grafted or coated on the RO membrane surface for fouling-resistance. However, these modified membranes still exhibit a fast flux drop towards small charged organic foulants. Herein, we creatively use quantum chemistry method to screen thiol group having close zero interaction energy with Thus, selected molecule of 2-aminoethanethiol (AET) and reactive amine modification. The water permeance AET-grafted increases from 2.6 ± 0.1 L m −2 h −1...
