There is increasing prevalence of psychiatric disorders among inflammatory bowel Disease (IBD) population. Further, presence has been shown as an independent predictor quality life patients with IBD. We intended to explore the various pediatric and young adult population IBD a population-based analysis. We did retrospective case control analysis using deidentified cloud-based database including health care data across 26 networks comprising more than 360 hospitals USA. Data collected...
Abstract Not only has Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome been associated with congenital cardiac abnormalities and cardiomyopathies, but familial clustering of also reported. Despite these well-known associations, direct genetic aetiology is rarely implicated in patients syndrome. We report a 17-year-old girl left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy due to rare variant PR-domain containing protein 16. The supplemented by comprehensive review literature on association between PRDM16 ,
Background: Congenital syphilis (CS) is a devastating yet preventable disease affecting the fetus. Recent increase in cases of CS United States has been reported by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There lack data on hospitalization trends healthcare utilization related to CS. We sought describe trends, morbidity mortality during 2009 through 2016 expenditure. Methods: National inpatient level collected from Kid’s Inpatient Database Sample databases were analyzed. hospitalizations...
Background: Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) in premature neonates has been associated with comorbidities including chronic lung disease (CLD), and death. However, the treatment of PDA remains controversial. There have several echocardiographic variables previously used to determine hemodynamic significance but their utility early prediction clinical outcomes is not well studied. Objective: The objective our study was evaluate use a severity scoring system incorporating markers systemic under...
Background: Adults with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are at increased risk of developing cytomegalovirus (CMV) colitis, which is associated adverse outcomes. Similar studies in pediatric IBD patients lacking. Methods: We analyzed non-overlapping years National Inpatient Sample (NIS) and Kids Database (KID) between 2003 2016. included all < 21 a diagnosis Crohn's (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC). Patients coexisting CMV infection during that admission were compared without for outcome...
ABSTRACT Objectives: Population‐based analysis of incidence, comorbid conditions, microbiological characteristics, and outcomes pyogenic liver abscess (PLA) in children. Methodology: Retrospective National Inpatient Sample (NIS) Kids database (KID) from 2003 to 2014 included patients between 1 20 years age. Using ICD‐9 codes, we identified all hospitalizations with PLA compared them : 10 age‐ gender‐matched controls. Amebic Candida infections were excluded. Results: Total number admissions...
Background: Adult studies demonstrated that extremes of nutritional status adversely impact clinical outcomes in acute pancreatitis (AP). With rising prevalence undernutrition/obesity children, we analyzed the effect on children and adolescents with pancreatitis. Methodology: We Kids' Inpatient Database (KID) between 2003 2016 to include all patients a primary diagnosis AP using specific International Classification Diseases (ICD) codes. classified into (1) undernutrition, (2) obesity (3)...
Summary Objective Morbid obesity is proinflammatory has been associated with adverse clinical outcomes in acute pancreatitis (AP) among adults. Obesity increasingly prevalent children and hence, we sought to evaluate the impact of morbid on AP using a large paediatric population‐based cohort. Methods We analysed US Kids' Inpatient Database between years 2003 2016 include all patients (age ≤ 21 years) primary diagnosis specific ICD‐9‐CM ICD‐10‐CM codes. compared without (controls) those...
To analyze the clinical characteristics, trends in hospitalization and health care resource utilization of pediatric patients with cyclical vomiting syndrome (CVS).
Abstract Background Cystic fibrosis‐related liver disease (CFLD) is more prevalent in recent decades due to the increasing life expectancy of patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). There paucity population‐level data on impact CFLD hospital outcomes. Methods We interrogated nonoverlapping years (2003–2016) National Inpatient Sample and Kids' Database include all hospitalized <21 age a primary diagnosis CF within United States. A concomitant cirrhosis, fibrosis, chronic disease, portal...
Abstract Aims Cannabis is an increasingly common recreational substance used by teenagers. However, there limited data probing association of cardiac arrhythmias with marijuana use in this population. Methods and Results We provide prevalence trends, disease burden healthcare utilization associated cannabis disorder (CUD) hospitalized teenagers (13–20 years) using a large national administrative database the United States from 2003–2016. partial least square regression analysis for assessing...
Summary Introduction Severe sepsis is one of the leading causes mortality among children. Studies in adults have suggested a protective effect obesity on patients hospitalized with sepsis. Paediatric studies evaluating similar relationship lacking. Methods We analysed non‐overlapping years Kids Inpatient Database (KID) and National Sample (NIS) database between 2003 2014 all paediatric severe (PSS) up to 20 age. PSS was defined using specific International Classification Diseases (ICD) codes...
This study introduces an innovative approach to nutrition and body metabolism monitoring using spectroscopy EMG sensors with cloud-based machine learning. The methodology begins the setup of for data collection, followed by robust preprocessing techniques, including noise filtering, normalization, imputation. By implementing learning algorithms, encompassing regression classification models, are evaluated their suitability in predicting content metabolism. system implemented from starting...
Despite proven efficacy and increased availability of therapeutic plasma exchange, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is associated with significant morbidity mortality. This study utilized the Kids' Inpatient Database National Sample (2003 to 2016) predictors in-hospital mortality in hospitalized TTP patients. Adjusted odds ratios death various putative risk factors were calculated using multiple regression analysis.Among 1568 hospitalizations as primary admission diagnosis who...

Abstract We report a case of an isolated congenital right ventricular outpouching detected incidentally on foetal echocardiogram that was performed due to suspicion CHD. Subsequent after birth revealed aneurysm with features pseudoaneurysm having thin and hypokinetic wall connected the ventricleʼs cavity via narrow neck. This appears be stable in size no clinical significance during short-term follow-up.
