Strawberries (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) were coated either with chitosan (1, 1.5, and 2% solution, w/v) or aloe vera (AV) gel the coatings air dried. Coated strawberries put in a polypropylene box stored refrigerator (6 ± 1°C 50 5% relative humidity. The success of coating retaining postharvest quality was evaluated by determining respiration rate, firmness, weight loss, external colour change, ascorbic acid content, total soluble solids, acidity, pH, microbial decay sensory quality....

A base-line survey was conducted in 2010 at different locations of Bangladesh to know the present status solar pumps. The respondents were pump users, suppliers and service providers. There about 150 pumps Bangladesh, among them 65 % used for supplying drinking water poor people locality 35 irrigation purposes. size varied from 300 1,190 Wp discharge capacity 2,000 800,000 L/day. Panel cost major (45 %) followed by costs installation (18 %), motor (16 (10 pipes fittings (4 %). Life cycle...

Abstract A prototype of a hybrid solar dryer was developed for drying tomato. It consists flat-plate concentrating collector, heat storage with auxiliary heating unit, and unit. has loading capacity 20 kg fresh half-cut The tested in different weather operating conditions. performance the compared an open sun-drying method. Drying evaluated terms rate, color, ascorbic acid, lycopene, total flavonoids. Tomato halves were pretreated UV radiation, acetic citric sodium metabisulphite, chloride....

The study focused on developing a rapid PCR-based detection method and employing gamma irradiation techniques to manage Ralstonia solanacearum, aiming produce brown rot-free export-quality potatoes. This initiative seeks enhance potato exports from Bangladesh. Samples of tubers soil were collected various commercially significant potato-growing areas, resulting in total 168 solanacearum isolates across 12 regions. R. the enriched tuber extract conducted using primer pairs (PS-1, PS-2) (759,...

A survey was carried out in some selected potato growing districts of Bangladesh during December to February 2011 know the status bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum terms its incidence and severity. The results showed that highest recorded Munshigonj (22.65%), followed Nilphamari (19.98%) lowest Jamalpur (9.07%). severity (3.80), while (2.90). total 44 isolates (R. solanacearum) were obtained from wilted plant samples i.e. 20 Munshigonj, 17 7 divided into three groups....

This article presents modelling of a solar tunnel drier by taking into account heat transfer in the collector and coupled mass within drying unit. One set equations was developed to predict cover temperature, absorber temperature air another partial differential chilli temperatures moisture content for green drier. The first solved iteratively second numerically on basis an exponential solution over finite difference grid element using outlet conditions as inlet simulated agreed well with...

Drying kinetics of half fruit tomatoes were investigated in a laboratory dryer at the temperature 35–65°C and air velocity 0.13–1.00 m/s. The optimum drying conditions terms rate, colour growth microorganisms also identified. rate shrinkage increased significantly with increase temperature. But red (a∗) decreased up to 0.75 was 55°C m/s, when time, colour, ripeness considered. Microorganisms (molds fungus) grown or below 40°C it could be prevented by sodium metabisulphite pretreatment....
