We analyse receiver functions from 29 broad‐band seismographs along a 380‐km profile across the Longmenshan (LMS) fault belt to determine crustal structure beneath east Tibetan margin and Sichuan basin. The Moho deepens about 50 km under Songpan–Ganzi in Tibet 60 LMS then shallows 35 western average Vp/Vs ratios vary range 1.75–1.88 Tibet, 1.8–2.0 LMS, decrease systematically NW part of basin less than 1.70. A negative phase arrival above is interpreted as PS conversion top low‐velocity...

Abstract Channel segregation, which is featured by the strip-like shape with compositional variation in cast materials due to density contrast-induced flow during solidification, frequently causes severe destruction of homogeneity and some fatal damage. An investigation its mechanism sheds light on understanding control channel segregation formation solidifying metals, such as steels. Until now, it still remains controversial what composes contrasts and, extent, how affects segregation. Here...

Abstract How the continental lithosphere deforms far away from plate boundaries has been long debated. The Tianshan is a type-example of ongoing lithospheric deformation in an intracontinental setting. It formed during Paleozoic accretion Altaids and was rejuvenated Cenozoic, which might be far-field response to India-Asia collision. Here we present seismic images across central Tianshan, were constructed receiver functions Rayleigh wave dispersions along N–S-trending linear array. We...

This study aims to investigate the mechanical response and acoustic emission (AE) characteristic of pre-flawed sandstone under both monotonic multilevel constant-amplitude cyclic loads. Specifically, we explored how coplanar flaw angle load type impact strength deformation behavior microscopic damage mechanism. Results indicated that being fluctuated before rising with increasing fissure loading, peak specimen first increased slowly then steeply loading. The effect loading on parameters was...

West–east extension is a prominent tectonic feature of southern and central Tibet despite ongoing north–south (N–S) convergence between India Eurasia. Knowledge deep structure beneath the N–S trending rifts key to evaluating models proposed for their origin, including gravitational collapse, oblique along arcuate plate boundary, mantle upwelling. We model direct S Moho-reflected SsPmp phases at teleseismic distances constrain variations in crustal thickness across major crossed by ∼900-km...

The convergence between the Indian and Eurasian plates has produced thick crust uplifted Tibetan plateau since about 50 Ma. However, deformation of mantle lithosphere is still a puzzle. geometry subducting beneath thickening or/and delamination are keys for understanding continental collision process evolution plateau. knowledge been restricted due to sparse data coverage in Tibet. In this study, S-wave receiver functions calculated using tele-seismic waveforms recorded by two broadband...
