Abstract Enzyme-based electrochemical biosensors are an inspiration for the development of (bio)analytical techniques. However, instability and reproducibility reactivity enzymes, combined with need chemical reagents sensing remain challenges construction useful devices. Here we present a strategy inspired by advantages enzymes photoelectrochemical sensing, namely integration aerobic photocatalysis analysis. The photosensitizer, bioinspired perfluorinated Zn phthalocyanine, generates...

Clear assignments the states, symmetries, Jahn−Teller distorted ions, difficult to determine experimentally, obtained. results compared with available experimental data, agreement is excellent. Our calculations predict not yet measured. Comparison previous theoretical work indicates that theory method...

The design of self oxidation-resistant catalytic materials based on organic molecules, although advantageous due to the ability control their structures, is limited by presence labile C–H bonds. The first Mn L-edge absorption spectra of a metalloprotein are presented in this paper. Both reduced and superoxidized catalase have been examined by fluorescence-detected soft X-ray spectroscopy, their dramatically different. spectrum Mn(II)Mn(II) has interpreted ligand field atomic multiplet calculations comparison to model compound spectra. analysis finds 10 Dq value ∼1.1 eV, consistent with coordination predominately nitrogen oxygen donor ligands. For interpretation mixed valence...
The effects of peripheral substituents and axial ligands on the electronic structure properties iron phthalocyanine, H16PcFe, have been investigated using a DFT method. Substitution by electron-withdrawing fluorinated groups alters ground state H16PcFe gives rise to large changes in ionization potentials electron affinity. For six-coordinate adducts with acetone, H2O, pyridine, coordination two weak-field leads an intermediate-spin state, while strong-field make system diamagnetic....

An enzyme-inspired phthalocyanine (Pc) complex [F64PcCo(acetone)2] is the first representative of a novel class robust homogeneous catalysts. This couples aryl and alkyl phosphanes with acetone to catalytically produce ylides (the structure shows ylide coordinated F64PcCo unit: F green, N blue, O red, C gray, P yellow) water under ambient conditions using only air, route that avoids classical use halogenated intermediates.
