Abstract The canga of the Serra dos Carajás, in Eastern Amazon, is home to a unique open plant community, harboring several endemic and rare species. Although complete flora survey has been recently published, scarce no genetic information available for most species ironstone outcrops Carajás. In this scenario, DNA barcoding appears as fast effective approach assess diversity Carajás flora, considering growing need robust biodiversity conservation planning such an area with industrial mining...

Serra dos Carajás harbors a unique open plant community in Amazonia, known as canga vegetation, with several endemic species coexisting the potential threat of large-scale iron ore mining. In this sense, Convolvulaceae occur wide variety geoenvironments multiple flower visitors, but scarcity data on its pollen morphology prevents correct association between floral well precise identification their habitats throughout Quaternary. Therefore, study aims to contribute taxonomic knowledge and...

Canga vegetation has high ecological importance in the Serra dos Carajás, southeastern Amazonia, but it coexists with potential threat of large-scale iron ore mining. Considering Convolvulaceae, this canga environment only 17 species, and 15 these species had their pollen grains described detail present work, aiming to contribute taxonomic knowledge critically endangered plants, including Ipomoea cavalcantei. Pollen were examined by light scanning electron microscopy,...
