The β-decay half-lives of 38 neutron-rich isotopes from (36)Kr to (43)Tc have been measured; the (100)Kr, (103-105)Sr, (106-108)Y, (108-110)Zr, (111,112)Nb, (112-115)Mo, and (116,117)Tc are reported here. results when compared with previous standard models indicate an overestimation in predicted by a factor 2 or more A≈110 region. A revised model based on second generation gross theory β decay better predicts measured suggests rapid flow neutron-capture process (r-matter flow) through this...

Abstract Dendritic cells are specialized APCs that exhibit an extraordinary capacity to activate naive T cells. Langerhans (LC), as epithelial tissue-specific members of this family, play key roles in the induction cell-mediated immunity against environmental, infectious, and tumor-associated Ags skin. A major limitation studying biology dendritic or LC has been absence stable, long-term cell lines. To overcome limitation, we have established a series APC lines (XS series) from newborn...

Dendritic epidermal T cells (DETC) are CD3+, CD45+, CD4-, CD8-, TCR-V gamma 3/V delta 1+ lymphocytes that reside in symbiosis with keratinocytes mouse epidermis. To address mechanisms by which these survive and proliferate within the environment, we have tested hypothesis cytokines secreted neighboring play relevant roles. The present study was conducted to determine whether produce biologically amounts of IL-7, and, if so, its effects on DETC. long term cultured DETC line, 7-17, freshly...

Ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation is a potent modulator of skin-related immune responses, particularly those involving the synthesis and secretion cytokines. The discovery new T cell mitogen, IL-15, prompted use to investigate its expression in skin examine effects UVB on such expression. RNA from unirradiated UVB-irradiated epidermal dermal sheets derived human foreskin as well populations were assayed for IL-15 by semiquantitative RT-PCR. Constitutive levels mRNA detected sheets, but not...

Working with the murine epidermal-derived dendritic cell (DC) line XS52, we have observed previously that antigen-specific interaction T cells stimulates their "terminal maturation" into fully professional DC. In this study examined impact of dexamethasone (DEX) on cell-induced event. When added to cocultures XS52 DC and KLH-specific Th1 clone HDK-1 in presence antigen, DEX at relatively low concentrations (10(-9)-10(-7) M) prevented substantially or completely each changes typify terminal...

The folate receptor mediates the uptake of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate in certain cultured cells by a process called potocytosis. When these are grown physiological concentrations folate, increases efficiency vitamin 30-fold. We now show that PAM 212 cells, mouse keratinocyte cell line, unable to grow 1 nM unless they express functional receptor. These results suggest under conditions, tissue body may depend on obtain enough for growth.

The low-lying states in ¹⁰⁶Zr and ¹⁰⁸Zr have been investigated by means of β-γ isomer spectroscopy at the radioactive isotope beam factory (RIBF), respectively. A new with a half-life 620 ± 150 ns has identified ¹⁰⁸Zr. For sequence even-even Zr isotopes, excitation energies first 2⁺ reach minimum N = 64 gradually increase as neutron number increases up to 68, suggesting deformed subshell closure 64. ground state indicates that spherical gap predicted 70 is not large enough change shape....

Abstract Langerhans cells (LC) are skin-specific members of the dendritic cell (DC) family. We now report that LC produce macrophage inflammatory protein-1 gamma (MIP-1 gamma), a newly identified CC chemokine. MIP-1 mRNA was detected in epidermal freshly procured from BALB/c mice, and depletion I-A+ (i.e., LC) abrogated expression. XS52 LC-like line as...

Abstract Dendritic cells (DC) are a specific subset of APC characterized by the potent ability to activate immunologically naive T cells. We have observed previously that murine epidermis-derived DC line XS52 undergoes set profound changes upon Ag-specific interaction with cells, including IL-1 beta secretion acquired expression CD86, and lost CD115 (CSF-1 receptor) proliferative responsiveness CSF-1. These changes, which appear reflect critical transition during Ag presentation, been termed...

Capture-safety, defined as the avoidance of any timing error due to unduly high launch switching activity in capture mode during at-speed scan testing, is critical for avoiding test- induced yield loss. Although point techniques are available reducing IR-drop, there a lack complete capture-safe test generation flows. The paper addresses this problem by proposing novel and practical scheme, featuring (1) reliable capture-safety checking (2) effective improvement combining X-bit identification...
