Ubiquitous computing has been defined as "machines that fit the human environment instead of forcing humans to enter theirs." An example this type approach is "Smart Sensory Furniture" (SSF) Project. SSF an ambient assisted living system allows inferring a potential dangerous action elderly person alone at home. This inference obtained by specific sensory layer with sensor nodes fixed into furniture and reasoning embedded in PC learns from users' behavioral patterns advices when detects...
In this paper, we present a case study for the design, programming and usage of reconfigurable system-on-chip, MorphoSys, which is targeted at computation-intensive applications. This 2-million transistor design combines array cells with RISC processor core high bandwidth memory interface. The system architecture, software tools including scheduler systems, performance analysis (with impressive speedups) target applications are described.

The extensions of the environment with integration sensing systems in any space, conjunction ubiquitous computing are enabling so-called Smart Space Sensor Networks. This new generation networks offering full connectivity object, through Internet Things (IoT) and/or Web, i.e., Web Things. These capabilities making it feasible to sense behaviours people at home and act accordingly. must be integrated within typical elements found such as furniture. For that reason, this work considers...
Heart failure is the most common disease among elderly people, and risk increases with age. The use of smart Internet Things (IoT) systems for monitoring patients chronic heart (CHF) in a non-intrusive manner can result better control disease, improving proactive healthcare through real-time historical patient's data, promoting self-care patients, reducing unneeded interaction between doctors, number hospitalizations saving costs. This work presents an active assisted living (AAL) solution...
Recent and continuous technological advances in sensors, wireless communications computing regarding price, size power consumption have allowed the seamless integration of sensors into everyday objects our homes offices making non-intrusive user monitoring a reality. Intelligent processing sensor data can be used to extract valuable information for carers so that they provide better assistance people such as elderly or disabled. These systems are commonly referred AAL (Ambient Assisted...
In this paper, we present a novel solution to the problem of configuration management for multi-context reconfigurable systems targeting DSP applications, its goal being minimize both, latency and power consumption. We assume that technique is applied within larger compilation framework, which provides scheduled task sequence considered application. During the last decades there has been a rapidly growing elderly population and number of patients with chronic heart-related diseases exploded. Many them (such as those congestive heart failure or some types arrhythmias) require close medical supervision, thus imposing big burden on healthcare costs in most western economies. Specifically, continuous frequent Arterial Blood Pressure (ABP) electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring are important tools follow-up many these patients. In this work, we...
Sensors integrated within a product can provide lots of information about how the is used and its status. Easy to extract information, such as hours per day, temperature or humidity could be very valuable manufacturer in order improve for real use. The may realize that his/her initial estimations do not match reality decide select different materials design based on data. For non-technological products integration sensors trivial has been analyzed prior this work. selection suitable critical...
Human Activity Recognition poses a significant challenge within Active and Assisted Living (AAL) systems, relying extensively on ubiquitous environmental sensor-based acquisition devices to detect user situations in their daily living. Environmental measurement systems deployed indoors yield multiparametric data heterogeneous formats, which presents for developing Machine Learning-based AAL models. We hypothesized that anomaly detection algorithms could be effectively employed create...
