The Ce-doped (LuyGd1–x)3(Gay,Al1–y)5O12 single crystals were grown by the micropulling down method. Their structure and chemical composition checked X-ray diffraction (XRD) electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) techniques. Optical, luminescent, scintillation characteristics measured methods of time-resolved luminescence spectroscopy, including light yield decay. Balanced Gd Ga admixture into Lu3Al5O12 provided an excellent scintillator where effect shallow traps was suppressed, spectrally...
Mg-codoped Lu3Al5O12:Ce single crystal scintillators were prepared by a micropulling down method in wide concentration range from 0 to 3000 ppm of Mg codopant. Their structure and chemical composition checked X-ray diffraction electron probe microanalysis techniques. Absorption luminescence spectra, photoluminescence decays, thermoluminescence glow curves measured together with several other scintillation characteristics, namely, the decay, light yield, afterglow, radiation damage reveal...
Abstract Absorption, radioluminescence and thermoluminescence spectra were measured for a set of Lu 3 Al 5 O 12 :Ce samples consisting bulk single crystal Liquid Phase Epitaxy‐grown films prepared from the same raw materials. The triple peak structure within 120–200 K distinguished in thermolu‐ minescence glow curves crystals was ascribed to an electron trap arising due antisite defect. depth associated with dominant at 142 evaluated using initial rise method. Abstract Ce-doped (Y y Gd 1− ) 3 (Ga x Al 5 O 12 ( = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 3) single crystals are grown by the micro-pulling down method. X-ray diffraction electron probe microanalysis techniques employed to check their structure chemical composition, respectively. Optical photoluminescence characteristics measured radioluminescence spectra, light yield scintillation decay measurements further made evaluate performance. We show that balanced Ga admixture in Y can considerably increase...
Thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL) glow curves and emission spectra were studied in undoped Ce-doped ${\mathrm{Lu}}_{3}{\mathrm{Al}}_{5}{\mathrm{O}}_{12}$ single crystals by wavelength resolved TSL measurements the $10--310\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{K}$ temperature range. Isothermal phosphorescence $10--100\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{K}$ range also performed, which point to existence of a tunneling-driven radiative recombination process. These processes can explain...
We present an investigation of defects acting as electron traps in ${\text{Lu}}_{2}{\text{SiO}}_{5}$ (LSO) and ${\text{Lu}}_{x}{\text{Y}}_{2\ensuremath{-}x}{\text{SiO}}_{5}$ (LYSO) performed by wavelength-resolved thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL) measurements from 20 to $400\text{ }\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}\text{C}$ after room-temperature (RT) x-ray irradiation. Single crystals doped with several rare-earth ions such Ce, Tb, Tm, Sm were considered. A comparison between TSL...
We investigate and compare optical absorption, luminescence scintillation properties of Pr-doped Y3Al5O12, Lu3Al5O12, Y2SiO5 Lu2SiO5 single crystals. The processes determining the kinetics fast Pr3+ 5d–4f radiative transition are described. Among studied host materials, only Lu3Al5O12 presents neither any 5d1–4f state nonradiative quenching nor ionization at room temperature. evaluate figure merit all materials for application as scintillators. most promising system appears to be : Pr, since...

Pr-doped Lu3(GaxAl1−x)5O12:Pr, x=0–1, single crystals were grown by the micro-pulling-down method. We study luminescence and scintillation characteristics of sample set focusing on their dependence gallium content. For x=0.4 we obtain high figure-of-merit material with elevated density, efficiency, very fast response below 20ns without any slower components. Improvement performance is explained as due to absence antisite LuAl defects that was for first time realized in such bulk garnet from...
The X-ray single crystal structure determination of Lu2O3 sesquioxide and polycrystalline transparent ceramic fabricated by the unconventional spark plasma sintering (SPS) method is presented for first time. High quality crystals samples were obtained using both micropulling-down (μ-PD) laser heated pedestal growth (LHPG) technique. SPS promising obtaining high-density ceramics with fine grains at a relatively low temperature within short holding structural characterizations helped to...
