Prosthetic valve thrombosis, a serious complication of prosthetic replacement, can be lethal without proper treatment. Right-sided thrombosis is rare but several therapeutic modalities considered: anticoagulation therapy, fibrinolysis, or surgery. Here, we report case significant tricuspid which failed fibrinolytic therapy requiring repeat sternotomy with replacement porcine bioprosthesis.
Background: The ideal diagnostic test for suspicion of CAD in the emergency department (ED) is unknown. We developed Buckeye Optimality Stress Score (BOSS) to assess ischemic evaluation (IE) appropriateness and impact on ED readmission. Methods: BOSS score assigns points each type IE based upon published guidelines. retrospectively calculated all patients with orders (8/2017-11/2017). were assigned a category optimal vs. suboptimal reflecting whether or not highest was used ( ) ). Results:...
Introduction: Alcohol septal ablation (ASA) is an effective percutaneous procedure used to treat refractory hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). ASA relieves left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction by creating a targeted infarction in the muscle. Diastolic dysfunction and mitral regurgitation are responsible for increased atrial pressure which contributes ectopy. We seek assess incidence of arrhythmias post-ASA identify predictors risk stratify these patients. Methods:...
Introduction: Alcohol septal ablation (ASA) is an effective procedure to treat medically refractory hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). Several modifications have been made the since its inception. We seek assess changes in and outcomes over past 20 years Methods: retrospectively analyzed 845 ASA procedures performed from January 2000 February 2022 using internally maintained database. These were then split into three groups, with occurring 2000-2004 (Cohort 1), 2005-2011 2),...
Objectives: The use of percutaneous mechanical circulatory support (PMCS) devices offers a means to maintain hemodynamic stability in pre-transplant patients. Impella Heart Pump and the intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) are two commonly employed for this purpose. We sought compare relative safety efficacy vs IABP using retrospective cohort patients at our institution from 2014-2021. Methods: 239 received support, 220 IABP. Of these patients, 26 receiving 49 were identified as...
