The result of a study on the application an improved statistical prediction method for estimating intermediate‐term (months) and long‐term (years) behavior solar flux is discussed. indicates that better predictions, in chi square sense, are possible by selecting sets data such each set (cycle) starts ends at maxima (or minima) base initialization point procedure. Then one applies Lagrangian least‐squares technique. Evidence also presented to support existence aperiodic variation periods as...

Coherent Doppler lidar appears to hold great promise in contributing the basic store of knowledge concerning flow field characteristics nonprecipitous regions surrounding severe storms. The lidar, through its ability measure clear air returns, augments conventional radar system, which is most useful precipitous storm. A brief description storm measurement system provided along with technique be used performing measurements. application addressed, and planned program outlined.

In the present study we extend previous work from this laboratory on polypeptide composition of photosynthetic lamellae. Using a high resolution sodium dodecyl sulfate gel electrophoresis technique, show that both grana and stroma lamellae have qualitatively very similar compositions although some clear quantitative differences are demonstrated.

The meteorological satellite program began in the United States as result of actions taken by a very small but dedicated group people from late 1940s to 1960. This paper provides firsthand accounts two these individuals. Their remarks provide an insight into trials and tribulations they encountered during early years. Those now active program, many whom do not recall this time, might appreciate effort pioneers legacy left for us.
