ABSTRACT The genus Wittmackia has 44 species distributed in two centers of diversity: the Brazilian clade and Caribbean clade. includes 29 species, with geographic distribution concentrated Northeast Brazil. This study reports morphology, ultrastructure, pollen viability stigma receptivity by different microscopy techniques 23 endemic to Brazil occurring Atlantic Forest areas. Pollen morphology was evaluated scanning electron light weak lactic acetolysis method. Histochemical tests were...
A new species of Krenakanthus, a member the bromelioid “Cryptanthoid complex”, is described based on plants discovered through collaborative citizen science. Krenakanthus ribeiranus and its only congener K. roseolilacinus are endemic to “João Pinto Center Biodiversity”, still poorly explored region with Campos Rupestres associated vegetation in Rio Doce Valley, eastern Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The unusual combination morphological characters ribeiranus, highlighted by plant delicacy...
Abstract Dyckia, belonging to the Bromeliaceae, consists of species that share several morphological similarities. Recently, a proposal has grouped 13 genus into “D. selloa complex” based on their limited geographical distribution and seed characteristics. However, further investigation is required gain better understanding this grouping. This study aimed analyze pollen grain morphology species. The analysis was conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), as well light equipped with...
We propose the re-establishment of Dyckia tomentosa, after rediscovering its populations, synonymization polyclada, and magnifica as a new species from southern Brazil that is morphologically related to D. tomentosa. Descriptions external morphology, leaf anatomy pollen comments on distributions habitats are provided. The informal complex in which tomentosa placed re-circumscribed proposed here “Dyckia selloa complex”.
