The significant attention gained by food-sourced vitamins has provided insights into numerous current researches; for instance, the potential reversal of epigenetic age using a diet and lifestyle intervention, balance between food dietary supplements in general population, role intake age-related macular degeneration, association supplement use, nutrient mortality among adults. As relevant literature about vitamin increases, continuous synthesis is warranted. To existing information, this...
Notwithstanding the increased toxic heavy metals/metalloids (THMs) accumulation in (edible) organs owed to goat′s feeding habit and anthropogenic activities, chevon remains increasingly relished as a special delicacy Nigeria. Specific South-Eastern region, however, there is paucity of relevant data regarding prevalence THMs goat carcasses processed for human consumption. This work was, therefore, aimed investigate detection, distribution health risk assessment carcass consumption To achieve...
This study investigated the antioxidant and haematopoietic capacity of unripe Carica papaya (UCP) seed extract in diabetic rats using three different solvents. Thirty adult male Wistar were used but twenty-five induced with diabetes following an overnight fast, by a single intravenous injection 60 mg/kg STZ freshly dissolved citrate buffer (pH 4.5). Control animals received 0.9% sterile saline. Hyperglycemia was confirmed for (3) days. Rats blood glucose levels ≥ 200 mg/dL selected study....
This study determined the therapeutic effect of ethanol leaf extract Combretum zenkeri on kidney function rats exposed to benzo[a]pyrene. Male Wistar albino were treated with C. (400 mg/kg) in presence or absence BaP (200 for four weeks. The blood obtained at end treatment was processed into serum and used biochemical analyses tissues histology. creatinine, urea, sodium ion potassium concentrations group benzo[a]pyrene without extracts were significantly higher (p<0.05) as compared...
Fungi are ubiquitous and found in a variety of habitats, either as transient or permanent dwellers. They grow wide range substrates which may serve vehicles for their spread to various other environments, including the human body. Ready-to-eat foods those that eaten without washing, cooking additional processing by food establishment consumer. With withdrawal catering services university students Federal Government Nigeria (in mid 1980s), majority have depended on service establishments...
Combretum zenkeri is a small tree found in the tropical West Africa that has been applied by locals treatment of arthritic and other inflammatory diseases. This study investigated free radical scavenging activities ethanolic leaf extract C. against nitric oxide NO hydroxyl OH radicals reducing power (Fe 3+ –Fe 2+ transformation ability). Inhibition lipid peroxidation through determination thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) brain homogenates (neuro-protective potentials) was also...
Long-term adverse effects on human health are caused by exogenous compounds that alter the functions of biological systems, especially neuroendocrine disruptors like diethyl phthalate (DEP) and bisphenol S (BPS). Although vanillic acid (VA) has pertinent neuropharmacological characteristics, its effect against DEP + BPS-induced neurotoxicity not been explored. This study proposed VA may offer protection BPS. Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly distributed across five groups: a control...
