We report on arc melt syntheses of HoB2 and Nb-substituted polycrystalline ingots their magnetocaloric microstructural properties. XRD data analysis reveal that a nominal 10% Nb addition during synthesis results in changes to unit cell parameters grain morphology. Interpretation refined using Vegard’s law shows substitutes into with stoichiometry Ho0.93Nb0.07B2. Arc melted products are bulk samples containing minor phases such as Ho2O3, Ho HoB4. substitution smaller size (~sub-micron) higher...

The flux pinning mechanism of BaFe1.9Ni0.1As2 superconducting crystals have been investigated systematically by magnetic measurements up to 13 T at various temperatures. field dependence the critical current density, Jc, was analysed within collective model. A remarkably good agreement between experimental results and theoretical δl curve is obtained, which indicates that in crystal originates from spatial variation mean free path. Moreover, normalized force Fp, curves versus h = B/Birr...

Abstract Raman spectroscopy of many metal hexaborides is well understood for vibrations symmetry that can be ascribed to the breathing and deforming modes boron octahedral clusters at corners cubic unit cell. However, significance lower energy has been subject debate wherein interpretation dependent on “rattling” ion within cage or alternative mechanisms such as presence defects isotope clusters. Furthermore, converged calculations phonon dispersions (PDs) using Density Functional Theory...
