Abstract The review of the Cretaceous–Paleogene interval deposits Elles section based on a detailed sampling gives good characterization K/T boundary and reconstitution geological events underlining this boundary. Thus, discovery thin Ir-rich layer, with Ni Cr-rich spinel shocked quartz is well preserved record known cosmic event that occurred at time. This sudden also corroborated by quantitative qualitative organic components distribution along interval. Added to some other long-term (e.g....

In Tunisia, the Paleocene biomarkers are identified within El Haria Formation shales. The Selandian is absent in most of outcrops and Thanetian unconformable to different stages Cretaceous. middle Selandian, with beginning Globanomalina pseudomenardii (P4) zone, we note that assemblage planktonic foraminifera becomes very poorly preserved much less abundant than at base. It represented by rare species there has been a start microfauna dissolution tests an enrichment iron oxides, silica,...

Gypsum is widely distributed in Tunisia occurring the formation of Triassic age. The gypsum deposit Mellegue alabastine type with a little porphyroblast and contains traces clay minerals calcite. It moderately strong rock terms its unconfined compressive strength 16 Mpa tensile 3.35 Mpa. Triaxial testing values indicated an apparent cohesion 10 angle friction 26°. studied had percentage SO3 41.71% CaO 32.9%. All samples low densities according to International Association Engineering Geology...

The mineralogical and geochemical analyses of Pleistocene sediments mollusks shells (gastropods bivalves) from the archaeopaleontological site Oued Sarrat (Tejerouine, NW Tunisia) permitted us to determine paleoenvironmental conditions reconstruct local depositional environment during Middle Late Pleistocene. cortege sediments, for all analyzed samples, records characteristics a mixture ofsilica calcite dominance with small fraction gypsum aragonite. mollusk species reflect dominated by...
