Abstract Aim Knowledge gaps and sampling bias can lead to underestimations of species richness distortions in the known distribution species. The goal this study is identify potential biases marine organisms at Western Atlantic Ocean, determine their causes assess its effect on biodiversity metrics. We tested interference with representation environmental conditions, potentially affecting model predictions. Location Ocean. Methods This compiled data online institutional databases. analysis...
Networks can greatly advance data sharing attitudes by providing organized and useful sets on marine biodiversity in a friendly shared scientific environment. NONATObase, the interactive database polychaetes presented herein, will provide new macroecological taxonomic insights of Southwestern Atlantic region. The was developed NONATO network, team South American researchers, who integrated available information from between 5°N 80°S Ocean near Antarctic. guiding principle is to keep free...
Abstract Aim Understanding the factors determining marine community variations is important for biogeography and conservation. Beta diversity a metric mapping species composition between communities regionalizing biota. Ecoregions are commonly used regionalization, but their empirical testing has been limited. Our aim to map in Western Atlantic, identify variables related these variations, regionalize areas based on distribution. Additionally, we test whether currently proposed ecoregions...
This study summarizes taxonomic information on polychaetes from Santa Catarina State, southern Brazil, between25º57'S and 29º23'S, provides species distribution records together with habitats, based historicaldata novel primary surveys. Rarefaction curves showed that most were found in the shallowsublittoral (to 60 m) rather than deep sublittoral (>60 or estuarine habitats. Altogether, 228 valid belongingto 141 genera 44 families recorded. inventory adds new to previous regional reports....
