The production of biodiesel from single-cell oils (SCOs) utilizing industrial wastes as feedstock presents an economically viable approach. To date, studies have rarely reported the utilization vinasse combined with glycerol for SCO. This study aimed to assess performance a Rhodotorula toruloides strain in ethanol distilleries supplemented pure/raw affordable carbon SCO production. Several critical factors, including C/N ratio, impact impurities crude glycerol, proper nitrogen source, and...
Abstract Biotransformation of furfural by Saccharomyces cerevisiae 354 was performed in a sugar cane molasses medium containing salts. The added rapidly reduced to furfuryl alcohol until final addition 3%, without inhibition the cells growth. An efficient conversion 96% obtained feeding 6 g · l −1 every hours.
Currently, the refining of sugarcane wax is carried out with 95% v/v ethanol as solvent. This process has a high rate consumption thus, main objective this work was to corroborate feasibility solvent in wax. The suitability its performance over other organic solvents evaluated through relative energy difference (RED) determined from Hansen solubility parameters (HSPs) oil, which were calculated using HSPiP software. HSPs turned be δD = 16.24 MPa½, δP 3.21 MPa½ and δH 10.34 similar those...
Usually, Hansen’s theory and the COSMO continuous solvation models have been used for selectionof solvents related to a solute, using HSPiP COSMO-RS computational tools, respectively. Those tools are notalways available many researchers; this reason, Microsoft Excel (ME) has estimation of goodsolvents in extraction natural products high value interesting food, pharmaceutical cosmeticindustries. This method is applicable cases where there little, or practically no information about compound...
Determination of the best condition for fractionation degreased sugarcane wax policosanol production using ethanol was investigated in this paper. The optimal conditions related to dispersion time solvent, degree, and solvent/wax ratio were 30 min, 90.03% v/v, 14:1 v/w, respectively. results evaluated by measuring six response variables: higher fatty alcohol concentration, octacosanol impurity concentration (measured as α,β unsaturated aldehydes), yield, cost indicator, vs other alcohols...
Abstract Previous studies have shown the feasibility of using Microsoft Excel "Solver" add-in to determine Hansen solubility parameters and radius sphere. Compounds such as di-block copolymer or ionic liquids are best represented by a double sphere, calculated with HSPiP software; development other tools for evaluating this type case is not reported in literature. This communication provides steps determination sphere help an evolutionary algorithm Excel, validated with, five study cases...
Abstract Sugarcane wax is a co‐product with strong potential. It contains several bioactive components that can be used for pharmaceutical and cosmetic purposes. also considered substitute leading vegetable waxes in the international market. The extraction refining technologies have been reported Cuba do not always manage to deliver meets quality demanded by This problem solved development of innovative allow increasing yields, higher quality, reduction costs. main objective this work was...
