Polysaccharide chromium (III) derivatives are gaining increasing attention in improving type 2 diabetes. In this study, the sulfated polysaccharide from Enteromorpha prolifera (SPE) with 4.8 kDa was prepared by specific enzymatic hydrolysis. The obtained SPE used to prepare a rhamnan-type derivative (SPED). Results indicated that O-H, C=O, and S=O were effectively involved chelation of SPED (chromium content 20.26%). Acute (half lethal dose > 2.38 g/kg) sub-acute toxicity showed had no...

ABSTRACT As a key indicator of regional sustainable development, in‐depth study ecological vulnerability (EV) is conducive to the realization precise protection. However, complexity environment causes driving mechanism EV be difficult clarify, particularly for areas with special natural climates. This developed comprehensive natural‐social‐economic‐pollution‐environmental (NSEPE) index system and analytical framework typical arid areas, revealing EV's spatiotemporal heterogeneity factors....

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent debilitating disease which predominantly characterized by cartilage degeneration. In the current study, destabilization of medial meniscus (DMM) mouse model was used to investigate effects Antarctic krill peptides (AKP) on protection. As observed, AKP clearly ameliorate degeneration as evidenced increased thickness and area decreased histological Research Society International (OARSI) scores. Toluidine blue staining showed that AKO remarkably inhibited loss...

The structure-function relationships of sea cucumber fucoidan has been seldom investigated. In this study, the effect which extracted from Holothuria tubulosa (Ht-FUC) with different molecular weight and chain conformation (Ht1/2/3/4) in metabolic inflammation was A co-cultured system comprising adipocytes macrophages used to explore impact vitro. high-fat high-sucrose diet (HFD)-fed obese mice model established verified Ht-FUC vivo. results demonstrated that all examined attenuated...

The anti-inflammatory activity of eckol, a phlorotannin constituent marine brown algae, has been widely demonstrated. Here, we found eckol at doses 0.5–1.0 mg/kg protected against development dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced acute experimental colitis in mice. DSS-elevated colonic tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6 levels as well nuclear kappa B(NF-κB)p65 and Toll like receptor (TLR)-4 expression were significantly suppressed, the IL-10 level was enhanced...

A 40-day experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different Ca2+ concentration fluctuation on moulting, growth and energy budget juvenile Litopenaeus vannamei with an initial wet body weight (1.20±0.01) g. The control group C385 385 mg L−1 throughout experiment, while C591, C803, C1155 C2380 groups periodically fluctuated from 591, 803, 1155 2380 respectively. moulting frequency (MF) shrimp in fluctuating significantly higher than those (P<0.05). specific rates (SGRd) feed...

ABSTRACT The spatial heterogeneity of ecological vulnerability (EV) is a key indicator regional ecosystem differentiation. However, identifying the factors that contribute to this remains challenge in current research. This study proposed “Ecological vulnerability‐spatial heterogeneity‐zone” (ESHZ) framework as solution overcome difficulties monitoring heterogeneity. Then, based on typical river valley city Baoji Northwest China research object, was used analyze and predict evolution law EV...

In this study, the effects of Holothuria tubulosa sea cucumber (Ht- FUC) with different molecular weight (Ht, Ht-1, Ht-2, Ht-3) on β cell apoptosis induced by high-fat-high-sucrose diet (HFD) in male C57BL/6J mice were investigated. After intervention Ht-FUC (60 mg/kg body weight) for 16 weeks, results showed that could significantly decrease blood glucose and insulin levels, reduce burden islet secretion (P < 0.05). Water uptake is generally accepted as the most important function of plant roots, while fact that roots can also release water to soil and its ecological consequences significance ecosystem are not well understood. Studies in past 20 years confirmed existence hydraulic redistribution (HR), which describes passive movement from moist dry via when transpiration ceases (usually at night). The direction HR be upward, downward or lateral along potential gradients. Because this newly recognized...
