Make intergrowth, not war! Hierarchically organized MFI zeolites with micro-, meso-, and macroporosity (see scheme) in one structure were made by sequential intergrowth using a simple organic structure-directing agent (OSDA) without meso- or macroporogens. The use of an OSDA that imperfectly fits the zeolite framework generated very thin plates 90° rotational intergrowth.

Hexagonal perovskite-related oxides have garnered a great deal of research interest because their high oxide-ion conductivity at intermediate temperatures, with Ba7Nb4MoO20 being notable example. However, concomitant proton conduction in may cause decrease power efficiency when used as the electrolyte conventional solid oxide fuel cells. Here, through investigations transport and structural properties Ba7Nb4-xWxMoO20+x/2 (x = 0-0.25), we show that aliovalent substitution Nb5+ by W6+ not only...

Nematic liquid-crystalline (LC) physical gels suitable for light scattering electrooptical displays have been prepared from a nematic liquid crystal and low molecular weight gelator containing an oligo(L-isoleucine) moiety. The number of amino acid moieties the gelators has great effect on gelation ability behaviour LC gels. A having three L-isoleucine forms most efficiently. use leads to microphase separation where fibres with diameter ca. 30 nm finely disperse in crystals. Such structures...

The effects of the optical and thermal properties metal azo dyes on recording characteristics digital video disc-recordable (DVD-R) discs have been studied. A sharp threshold for decomposition dye assures a clear mark edge low jitter minimum length 0.4–0.44 µm. steep absorption at 635 nm side is also critical to high reflectivity fabricating edges. Following these guidelines, excellent 0.4 µm shortest are achieved with original dye.

Abstract During prometaphase in mitosis, chromosomes are pushed toward the spindle equator. The chromokinesin Kid, also known as KIF22, moves along microtubules during prometaphase. Kid has long been considered a monomeric and non-processive motor, different from typical kinesins. In this study, we demonstrate that full-length forms homodimer processively microtubules. A conserved coiled-coil domain within stalk region of is not only capable formation, but required for processivity Kid....
