This paper is concerned with a class of nonlinear field theories that exhibit conserved particlelike structures. An example such theory quoted. Fields belonging to this are classical fields, single-valued under the action rotation group. It explained how, when quantized, quantum mechanical states which correspond 1-particle systems in unquantized may have properties similar fermion states. In particular, it shown possible for wavefunctionals exist double-valued 2π rotations. first known can...

Photonic band gap (PBG) materials are attractive for cavity QED experiments because they provide extremely small mode volumes and monolithic, integratable structures. As such, PBG cavities a promising alternative to Fabry-Perot resonators. However, the requirements imposed by experiments, such as need high Q (low damping) volumes, present significant design challenges photonic materials. Here, we pose problem mathematical inversion an analytical solution two-dimensional (2D) crystal. We then...

We report pump-and-probe measurements of the electron intersubband lifetime (T1) in an AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure using a picosecond pulsed far-infrared laser. The subband spacing (11 meV) is less than optical-phonon energy. Time-resolved yield lifetimes ranging from T1=1.1±0.2 ns to T1=0.4±0.1 depending on measurement conditions. Results are agreement with previous same sample continuous excitation at intensities ≤1 W/cm2. steady-state yielded shorter high intensities, possibly due carrier...

It is well known that the metric tensor of general relativity may be associated with a conserved quantity, which an integer as 'kink number'. This paper introduces model for corresponding to single stationary kink centred at origin. The Christoffel symbols and energy-momentum are deduced, by investigating asymptotic properties mass density, inverse square law seen arise.

The null-surface formulation (NSF) of general relativity has three coupled and highly nonlinear field equations whose solution determines (a family of) null surfaces indicated by the variable u. This is one a set intrinsic coordinates that are defined in terms surfaces. first called main metricity condition, it far most complicated. work considers NSF 2+1 dimensions presents founded on following strategy: simplify condition requiring uu-component metric tensor to be zero then search for an...

When general relativity is examined from the point of view algebraic topology, it found that theory exhibits conserved particlelike structures. The number such particles associated with a given metric determined by homotopy class metric. This paper concerned showing if quantized, then quantum mechanical states corresponding to 1-particle systems in unquantized may have properties similar fermions. In particular, proved possible for wavefunctionals exist which are double-valued under 2π rotation.
