In this study, the purification and characterization of two thermostable laccases produced by Pycnoporus sanguineus CS43 (LacI LacII) were performed. Also, their biotechnological potential was assessed through degradation endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Laccases purified ultrafiltration, ion exchange (IEX) hydrophobic interaction chromatography achieving specific activities close to 285 U mg−1. The molecular weights LacI LacII, determined SDS-electrophoresis, 68 66 kDa, respectively....

The biodegradation of organic compounds present in water at trace concentration has become a critical environmental problem. In particular, enzymatic oxidation by fungal laccases offers promising alternative for efficient and sustainable removal pollutants water. this work, the biocatalytic ability from Pycnoporus sanguineus CS43 fungus was evaluated. A filtered culture supernatant (laccase cocktail) evidenced an enhanced biotransformation capability to remove common endocrine-disruptor...

Emerging contaminants (ECs) are not monitored nor regulated consistently, but may have negative effects on human health and ecosystem balance. Although pharmaceuticals personal care products among the main ECs found in surface wastewater, their toxicity fate currently sufficiently studied. In this study, we analyzed for first time a group of 46 secondary effluent wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) Prague. Thirty-seven compounds were identified discharge to water. Three had no toxicology...

Emerging contaminants such as sunscreens, hair dyes and flame retardants have been found at important concentrations in surface water (river, lake, ocean), but their negative impact on different aquatic species is not fully known. This study evaluated the effect of benzophenone (BZ), 2,5-diaminotoluene sulfate (PTD), p-phenylenediamine (PPD) tetrabromobisphenol A (TBPA) survival (LC50) sublethal (LC25) activity enzymes linked to stress oxidative process brine shrimp under two temperature...

Linoleic and α-linolenic acids are essential fatty for animals humans that must be provided in their diet. Several sources have been studied, however production by cyanobacterium Nostoc muscorum has not thoroughly studied. We aim to evaluate the effect of mixotrophic culture on biomass lipid content, subsequently characterize quantify present N. muscorum. The individual interactive effects three conditions (glycerol concentration, acetate concentration time) were investigated through a...

Abstract Mexico's government has introduced a Law on Climate Change that is unique worldwide; it establishes targets for greenhouse gases reductions at the same level of developed countries despite being an emerging country. This reform represents crucial challenge electrical and transport sectors largely dependent fossil energy since Mexico ninth‐largest oil producer in world. Local industry academic are called to lead introduction renewable sources, particularly enhance share from biomass...

Segmental identity along the anteroposterior axis of bilateral animals is specified by Hox genes. These genes encode transcription factors, harboring conserved homeodomain and, generally, a YPWM motif, which binds cofactors and increases transcriptional specificity in vivo. Here we derive synthetic Drosophila Antennapedia genes, consisting only motif homeodomain, investigate their functional role throughout development. Synthetic peptides full-length proteins cause head-to-thorax...

Tetrabromobisphenol (TBBPA), a flame retardant compound, is considered ubiquitous pollutant, with potential impact on the environment and human health. Several technologies have been applied to accelerate its degradation minimize environmental impacts. Due aromaticity character, peroxidase enzymes may be employed carry out transformation in mild conditions. Therefore, purpose of this work was determine capacity enzyme chloroperoxidase (CPO) oxidize TBBPA several water samples. The oxidation...

Homeoproteins contain the conserved homeodomain (HD) and have an important role determining embryo body plan during development. HDs increase their DNA-binding specificity by interacting with additional cofactors outlining a Hox interactome multiplicity of protein-protein interactions.
