Prostate cancers show a slow progression from local lesion (primary tumor) to metastatic and hormone-resistant phenotype. After an initial step of hyperplasia, in high percentage cases neoplastic transformation event occurs that, less frequently, is followed by epithelial mesenchymal transition invasion healthy tissues (usually bones). MicroRNA-203 (miR-203) tumor suppressor microRNA often silenced different malignancies. Here, we that miR-203 downregulated clinical primary prostatic tumors...

Ellagic acid (EA) is a polyphenolic compound that can be found as naturally occurring hydrolysis product of ellagitannins in pomegranates, berries, grapes, green tea and nuts. Previous studies have reported the antitumor properties EA mainly using vitro models. No data are available about influence on bladder cancer cell invasion extracellular matrix triggered by vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), an angiogenic factor associated with disease progression recurrence, tumor vivo. In...

The outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) caused by SARS-CoV-2 has spread rapidly, inducing a progressive growth in infected patients number. Social isolation (lockdown) been assessed to prevent and control virus diffusion, leading worldwide financial political crisis. Currently, RNA detection nasopharyngeal swab takes place real-time PCR (RT-qPCR). However, molecular tests can give some false-negative results. In this context, serological assays be useful detect IgG/IgM...

We tested the effects of 5-Hz rTMS over motor cortex in multiple sclerosis (MS) subjects complaining lower urinary tract symptoms either filling or voiding phase. Our data show that stimulation for five consecutive days two weeks ameliorates phase micturition cycle, suggesting enhancing corticospinal excitability might be useful to ameliorate detrusor contraction and/or urethral sphincter relaxation MS patients with bladder dysfunction.

The prone position has been considered the only for percutaneous access to kidney past 25 years, whereas supine Valdivia recently started gain acceptance, although it was originally described in late 1980s. Even more recently, Galdakao-modified described. However, there is no consensus on which best nephrolithotomy, and choice currently based surgeon's preference. The prone, supine, modified positions are described, pointing out advantages, disadvantages, results of each technique.A number...

Abstract BACKGROUND To evaluate the association between metabolic syndrome (MS) and prostate cancer diagnosis grade in patients undergoing biopsy. METHODS From 2009 onwards, a consecutive series of 12‐core biopsy for PSA value ≥4 ng/ml and/or positive digital rectal examination (DRE) were prospectively enrolled. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumferences, blood pressure measured before Blood samples tested for: PSA, fasting glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol HDL. MS presence was defined...

To compare acute and chronic effects of l-dopa on bladder function in levodopa-naive Parkinson disease (PD) patients who had urinary urgency. We evaluated 26 l-dopa-naive PD at a university-based center with first urodynamic session double examination: the off treatment condition 1 hour after challenge carbidopa/l-dopa 50/200 mg; then, monotherapy was administered (mean dose 300 +/- 150 mg). Two months later, underwent second single evaluation challenge. The significantly worsened overactivity...
