Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) is a world cereal crop used in China for producing Baijiu, distilled spirit. We report telomere-to-telomere genome assembly of the Baijiu cultivar Hongyingzi, HYZ-T2T, using ultralong reads. The 10 chromosome pairs contained 33,462 genes, which 93% were functionally annotated. 20 telomeres and centromeric regions on HYZ-T2T chromosomes predicted two consecutive large inversions 2 characterized. A 65-gene reconstruction metabolic pathway tannins, flavor...
Abstract The fleshy fruit of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) are climacteric and, as such, ethylene plays a pivotal role in their ripening and quality traits. In this study, basic helix–loop–helix transcription factor, EMB1444-like, was found to induce the expression YELLOW-FRUITED TOMATO 1 (YFT1), which encodes SlEIN2 protein, key element signaling pathway. Yeast one-hybrid EMSA analyses revealed that EMB1444-like binds E-box motif (CACTTG, –1295 bp –1290 upstream ATG start codon) YFT1...
Tomato fruit colors are directly associated with their appearance quality and nutritional value. However, tomato color formation is an intricate biological process that remains elusive. In this work we characterized a
Genetic modification can be an effective strategy for improving the agronomic traits of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) to meet demands yield, quality, functional components, and stress tolerance. However, limited numbers available tissue-specific promoters represent a bottleneck design production transgenic plants. In current study, total 25 unigenes were collected from RNA-sequence dataset based on their annotation as being exclusively expressed in five type tissues pericarp (outer inner...
To create novel tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) germplasm, a wild relative, S. pimpinellifolium (a red-fruited LA1585 accession), was used as the male parent to cross with yellow-fruited mutant, e9292 (S. lycopersicum). Forty-four morphological characteristics were examined in present study; 22 (LA1585) traits and six lycopersicum (e9292) dominant hybrids (first generation, F1); 10 intermediate types, remaining resulted nonmorphological difference. Ten representative lines chosen from 1338...
