Purpose.: The shape of the human fovea presents important but still poorly characterized variations. In this study, variability and structure normal foveae were examined. Methods.: a group 110 eyes 57 healthy adults, analyzed by automated segmentation retinal layer on high-resolution optical coherence tomography scans. an additional 10 patients undergoing fluorescein angiography, size foveal avascular zone (FAZ) was correlated to shape. Results.: From thickest thinnest fovea, there...

The wall-to-lumen ratio (WLR) of retinal arteries is a recognized surrogate end-organ damage due to aging and/or arterial hypertension. However, parietal morphometry remains difficult assess in vivo. Recently, it was shown that adaptive optics imaging can resolve structures arterioles humans Here, using imaging, we investigated the variations thickness small with blood pressure and focal vascular damage.Adaptive superotemporal artery done 49 treatment-naive individuals [mean age (±SD) 44.9...

This article presents an application of wavelet packet analysis to the features extraction part iris recognition system. An energy measure is used identify particular packets that carries discriminating information about texture. Several different orthogonal wavelets arc tested and a comparison nonorthogonal using Gabor done. The experimental results show 100% correct classifications when applying algorithm on image database new therefore interesting alternative based methods.

This paper describes a system for optical music recognition (OMR) in case of monophonic typeset scores. After clarifying the difficulties specific to this domain, we propose appropriate solutions at both image analysis level and high-level interpretation. Thus, segmentation method is designed, that allows dealing with common printing defects numerous symbol interconnections. Then, musical rules are modeled integrated, order make consistent decision. interpretation step relies on fuzzy sets...

This paper proposes an automated method for the segmentation of eight retinal layers in high resolution OCT images. It has been evaluated based on comparison with manual performed by five different experts. The successfully applied a database 72 Quantitative measures are then derived as aid to ophthalmic diagnosis. A good agreement from is obtained which allows us use proposed variability studies.

Methods: In cohort 50 subjects, directional reflectance cones retinal periphery explored by flood-illuminated adaptive optics (FIAO) and coherence tomography (OCT). Results: 32 eyes (64%), off-axis FIAO images (∼15–20° from fovea) showed variably sized patches hyporeflective dots (called here negative mosaic) coexisting with hyperreflective...

Arteriovenous nickings (AVNs) in the retina are cause of retinal vein occlusions and also surrogates cerebrovascular aging. The prevalent mechanistic model AVNs stating that arteries crush veins remains somewhat unchallenged despite lack evidence other than fundus photographs. Here, we observed venous nicking may be absence physical contact with an arteriole. This paper presents an iris recognition system, based on a wavelet packet analysis using orthogonal wavelets. The identification of the different packets that carry discriminating information about texture is carried out through energy measure. Tests, conducted database 149 high quality images show good robustness in relation to changes illumination, blurring, optical axis deviation or local defects images.
