When recycled aggregate is used for concrete manufacture, in many cases these aggregates are accompanied by a sand content. This research focuses on concretes prepared with First, the examined effects of content characteristics mortar—density and compressive flexural strength—by using contents 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 50%. Subsequently, effect made water/cement ratio 0.50, when part was replaced sand, studied. The results obtained mortars indicate that use up to 20% caused drop strength. In...

Comprehensive chemical characterization of nine mono-varietal apple pomaces obtained from the production ciders with PDO is described. They were rich in essential minerals, fibers (35–52.9 %), and polyphenols. High levels GalA (11.8–21.6 revealed suitability these as efficient sources pectins. Extracted pectins showed high variability monomer composition, degrees methylesterification, strongly associated functional properties, ranging 58 to 88 %. For a subset pomace varieties, pectin...
The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence recycled coarse aggregates (RCA) used manufacture self-compacting concrete with (SCRC) by evaluating characteristics concrete, particularly its self-compactibility. Another aim determine simple compressive strength at 28 days and durability (water penetration carbonation). was prepared different RCA percentages (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%) water:cement (w/c) ratios 0.45, 0.50, 0.55. A constant percentage superplasticizer added, two...
Phenolic compounds in 46 Spanish cider apple varieties were determined by RP-HPLC with direct injection. Several pattern recognition procedures, including principal component analysis (PCA), linear discriminant (LDA), and partial least squares (PLS-1), applied to the data an attempt classify samples into bitter nonbitter categories. Reliable decision rules obtained both LDA PLS-1. achieved 91.3 85.7% correct classification respectively, for internal external evaluation of model. Keywords:...
Abstract The nature and structure of genetic diversity in the Spanish apple germplasm preserved at national level was widely unknown, since studies performed to date on this topic have been exclusively carried out regional scale. Here, 1453 accessions from collections Malus × domestica were evaluated with a common set 13 SSR (Simple Sequence Repeats) markers order estimate diversity, identify underlying unravel relationships among them wide international cultivars for reference. In total,...
To test the importance of flowering phenology in damage caused to apple cultivars by rosy aphid, Dysaphis plantaginea (Passerini) (Hemiptera: Aphididae), susceptibility 16 was compared greenhouse conditions after infestation with aptera and field natural tree colonization. Flowering recorded for all cultivars. In both trials, there were differences among respect aphid damage. However, not significantly correlated. also different order negatively correlated field, i.e., early leafing showed...
Abstract A simple and fast method based on solid‐phase microextraction (SPME) followed by gas chromatography (Fast GC) has been developed for the analysis of volatile compounds in Asturian apple juices employed cider production. Three different fiber coatings have checked (PDMS, PDMS‐DVB CAR‐PDMS) presented to be most suitable one. Experimental design optimization extraction factors robustness assessment. The use Fast GC allowed separation 14 (esters, aldehydes alcohols) approximately 4 min,...
Fire blight, caused by Erwinia amylovora, is one of the most devastating apple diseases. The selection cultivars low susceptibility and study genetic mechanisms disease play important roles in fire blight management. level to was evaluated 102 accessions originating from Asturias, a cider-producing region located north Spain with wide germplasm. Evaluations took place under quarantine conditions using artificial inoculations grafted plants. results revealed variation responses...
The number of local and traditional fruit cultivars in Andalusia (Southern Spain) has decreased dramatically since the 1970s when new commercial from breeding programs were introduced, replacing old varieties, thus decreasing genetic diversity. The present study was included a resources project with objective identifying preserving tree Southern Spain. The goal this to begin characterization 29 apple accessions (Malus x domestica Borkh) belonging 13 cultivar denominations. For molecular...
