Ice loads is one of the most important parameters which should be taken into consideration for arctic structures. load highly depends on ice thickness. It always recommended to consider thickness data from field observations. However if not available it necessary calculate thicknesses level. Calculation also areas where thermal fluxes through structure consideration. In this work numerical simulation Stefan problem determining level presented. The results show good correlation between...
It is usually proposed that bearing capacity of the ice beam during its interaction with a sloping hydraulic structure exhausted when tensile stresses in beam's cross-section reach some limit. But besides stress there compressive structure. This can change our estimations ultimate and load exerted on structure. The purpose study was to estimate influence longitudinal capacity. The solution obtained program complex LS-DYNA.Results mathematical modeling were compared data physical experiments...
Abstract The objective of this paper is to demonstrate how modelling can be used account for the inherent correlations while assessing pipe response ice gouging – and thus narrow down uncertainties associated with pipeline design process. A custom-developed numerical model has been developed exercised better understand environmental conditions affect Further, simulations keel-soil-pipe interaction have performed, relating input output model. quantitatively demonstrated effect governing...
The influence of heterogeneity ice properties on loads exerted offshore structures is examined analytically in the present work. methodology proposed permits considering induced by different factors: local factors such as strength or thickness variations, and large-scale existence fields ages. Local areas with parameters (strength, thickness, etc) from surrounding are treated inclusions their investigated. Results investigation show that under some conditions negligible whereas sometimes it...
Abstract The present paper covers the methodology of mathematical simulation floating anchored structures behaviour under external loads influence. also describes realization dynamic ice calculation method. technique can be used in research or design works related to development new objects for Arctic conditions. considers models structure influence level ice, consolidated part and keel ridge. All listed are combined into one algorithm description formations. There some results comparative...
Artificial, grounded ice islands built by controlled flooding of the sea surface with water have been used for exploratory drilling in Arctic offshore. Islands fabricated from are becoming more prevalent as offshore oil speculation gains interest. Ice has a strategic building material construction roads, airstrips, housing, and, last few decades, temporary platforms to explore oil. This article describes various methods artificial building, advantages and disadvantages using man-made drilling.
Abstract Ice induced vibration of fixed offshore structures has been observed in different seas, for example: Beaufort Sea, Cook Inlet, Gulf Bothnia, Bohai Bay, Sea Okhotsk. It can have a significant impact, as it may lead to failure due structural fatigue (Bohai Bay) or softening foundations, cause problems with the serviceability platforms. Possible future arctic developments will be deeper water, where phenomenon ice one factor limiting maximum water depths economic use (bottom-founded)...
Results of studies ice ridges in field conditions are presented. Ice investigated the Barents Sea proximity South-East Svalbard archipelago. Five surveyed during research cruises 2012-2014 years. Main engineering properties as thickness consolidated layer, height sail and depth keel were obtained. primary importance for evaluation loads studied area Sea.
