Abstract BACKGROUND The aim of the current randomized Phase II study was to investigate efficacy and safety capecitabine combined with irinotecan as first‐line treatment in metastatic colorectal carcinoma (CRC). METHODS A total 140 patients received at a dose 1250 mg/m 2 twice daily on Days 2–15 either 300 Day 1 (Arm A) or 150 8 B) every 3 weeks. During course study, enrollment continued using lower doses (1000 daily) A: 240 ; Arm B: 120 ) improve profile combinations. RESULTS Efficacy...

Screening, a ubiquitous phenomenon associated with the shielding of electric fields by surrounding charges, has been widely adopted as means to modify material’s properties. While most studies have relied on static changes screening through doping or gating thus far, here we demonstrate that can also drive onset distinct quantum states ultrafast timescale. By using time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, show intense optical excitation 1T-TiSe 2 , prototypical charge density...

Misfit layer compounds are heterostructures composed of rocksalt units stacked with few-layer transition metal dichalcogenides. They host Ising superconductivity, charge density waves, and good thermoelectricity. The design misfits' emergent properties is, however, hindered by the lack a global understanding electronic transfer among constituents. Here, performing first-principles calculations, we unveil mechanism controlling demonstrate that always donor dichalcogenides acceptors. We show...

The compound CuTe (vulcanite) undergoes a quasi one dimensional charge density wave (CDW) at $T< T_{\mathrm{CDW}}=335$ K with $5\times1\times2$ periodicity. mechanism its origin is debated. Several theoretical works claimed that semilocal functionals are unable to describe occurrence and ascribed formation only strong electron-electron interaction. Moreover, the possible role of quantum anharmonicity has not been addressed. Here, by performing anharmonic calculations, we show correctly CDW...

The photoluminescence spectrum of a single-layer boron nitride remains elusive, marked by enigmatic satellites that hint at significant but unidentified exciton-phonon coupling. Here, employing first principles approach based on the many-body cumulant expansion charge response, we calculate optical absorption and single layer nitride. We identify specific scattering channels unravel their impact spectra thereby providing an interpretation experimental features. Finally, show that, even in...

The FAST is a 2 × factorial trial addressing two questions: (1) the role of replacing cisplatin (P) with non-platinum agent, vinorelbine (N), and (2) adding third ifosfamide (I), in doublet based on gemcitabine (G). A total 433 stage IIIB–IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients were randomised to one four arms: gemcitabine–cisplatin (GP), gemcitabine–vinorelbine, gemcitabine–ifosfamide-cisplatin or gemcitabine–ifosfamide–vinorelbine.
