To quantitatively assess early postoperative endothelial damage caused by two phacoemulsification techniques and to ascertain the effect of differences in time.Department Ophthalmology, Umberto Hospital, Lugo, Italy. This prospective study evaluated 100 patients who had using one techniques: phaco chop (n = 50) or four-quadrant, divide conquer phacofracture 50). The endothelium both groups was analyzed preoperatively 8 weeks postoperatively specular microscopy.Phaco led significantly shorter...

To assess the refractive accuracy of different formulas for intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation in eyes with keratoconus.IRCCS Fondazione Bietti, Rome, Italy.Multicenter retrospective interventional study.A consecutive series keratoconus that had cataract surgery were evaluated. Keratometry, anterior chamber depth, and axial length measured preoperatively optical biometry; IOL was calculated Barrett Universal II, Haigis, Hoffer Q, Holladay 1, SRK/T formulas. Subjective refraction...

Purpose: To determine whether internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling during pars plana vitrectomy for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment reduces the incidence of epiretinal (ERM) formation. Methods: In this retrospective study, preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative data from all eyes undergoing between January 2007 December 2013 was analyzed. All cases with at least 1-year follow-up were included. Data collection included vision, intraoperative complications, occurrence ERM,...

To evaluate the efficacy of combined glaucoma surgery, 42 glaucomatous patients were randomly divided into two groups: deep sclerectomy with implant (DS) alone was performed in 21 patients, and phacoemulsification (PDS) other patients. Follow-up carried out at regular intervals for 12 months. A comparative study on intraocular pressure (IOP) designed. Although further is needed, PDS appears to have better postoperative long-term results IOP control than DS alone.

Purpose To evaluate the incidence of secondary cataract in phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation using a capsular tension ring case zonular dehiscence. Methods Phacoemulsification double was done 65 eyes with severe weakness. One year after surgery opacities fibrosis were detected double-blind examination. The results compared control group 36 that did not have but had similar surgery. Results In 7.7% patients moderate or posterior capsule opacification, 36.1% group....

We report the case of a woman with drusenoid pigment epithelial detachment (DPED) in age-related macular degeneration who was successfully treated two monthly intravitreal injections brolucizumab after failing to respond previous bevacizumab and aflibercept.A 56-year-old mixed DPED overlying subretinal fluid her right eye initially three aflibercept no visual anatomical improvement. Switching injection performed. After consecutive brolucizumab, optical coherence tomography (OCT) showed first...

Purpose. To evaluate whether limited vitrectomy is as effective complete in eyes with epiretinal membrane (ERM) and to compare the surgical times rates of complications. Methods. In this multicentre European study, data ERM that underwent from January 2017 July 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. group, a posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) was induced up till equator opposed PVD induction base comparison group.
