In the Croatian apple germplasm, there are, presumably, unique genotypes that have not yet been documented in reference molecular databases. Due to similarities between accessions, incorrect names are often used, which creates a problem identification of accessions. Overall, 169 accessions and 11 cultivars from largest ex situ collection Republic Croatia were investigated within this study. The examined genotyped using SSR markers. order assess advantage high-resolution marker system, such...

Abstract Since changes in temperature and precipitation have different effects on (a) all developmental stages of grapevines most the wine regions worldwide (i.e., their phenological characteristics) (b) varieties, a comprehensive database bioclimatic indices has been calculated analysed for Croatian producing regions. The consists average growing season temperature, degree‐days, Huglin index, dryness index cool night that are based available meteorological measurements as well outputs...

Before the Phylloxera (Daktulosphaira vitifoliae) crisis in Croatia more than 400 grape varieties were under cultivation. Today their number is drastically decreased. Recently, many efforts preservation of grapevine biodiversity undertaken: detailed inventory different wine-growing regions, establishing national and regional collections systematic ampelographic genetic characterisation. This paper shows results multiannual research concerning Croatian grapevines considered as autochthonous...

QTL-analysis (quantitative trait loci) and marker development rely on efficient phenotyping techniques. Objectivity precision of a phenotypic data evaluation is crucial but time consuming. In the present study high-throughput image interpretation tool was developed to acquire automatically number, size, volume grape berries from RGB (red-green-blue) images. Individual one cluster were placed black construction (300 x 300 mm) take top. The dataset with an arbitrary number images runs using...

This study aimed at testing the efficiency of a droplet-vitrification cryopreservation protocol in eliminating selected grapevine viruses. The led to approximately 50 % recovery with cultivar 'Portan' and five international cultivars tested, but very low was noted Croatian cultivars. GFLV GLRaV-3, two (economically important grapevine) viruses were eliminated high percentage (up 100 %) plants regenerated from cryopreserved shoot tips. Virus sanitation observed as well samples before liquid...

Abstract Symptoms of bitter rot were observed on apple and pear fruits in the field storage C roatia between 2009 2011. Fifteen olletotrichum isolates from two collected identified by sequencing ITS 1 2 regions ribosomal DNA . Phylogenetic analysis revealed that ten could be as fioriniae , five clustered clavatum while one isolate was acutatum A7 group. All caused typical symptoms when inoculated fruits.

There is a need for classifying and conserving local apple cultivars from two main regions in Bosnia Herzegovina (B&H). Consequently, 71 accessions (31 Sarajevo 40 eastern Bosnia) were evaluated with set of 10 simple sequence repeats (SSRs). These compared 37 reference (24 traditional B&H 13 international maintained at the ex situ collection Srebrenik) to determine synonyms, homonyms, possible introgression foreign genotypes into germplasm. Using primer pairs microsatellites, we able...

The genetic diversity of wild grapevine [Vitis vinifera L. subsp. sylvestris (Gmel.) Hegi] in the eastern Adriatic region, which includes Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina, has previously not been documented. Natural populations were identified their natural habitats, was studied compared with both local widespread European cultivars. Ninety-two genotypes determined at 21 nuclear microsatellite loci, including 53 individuals, 32 diverse Croatian west cultivars, seven commonly used...

The investigation of virus incidence was conducted on 14 autochthonous Croatian grapevine cultivars vines from 51 vineyard located in the Dalmatian region. A total 1,116 were tested by ELISA nine viruses: Arabis mosaic (ArMV), Grapevine fanleaf (GFLV), fleck (GFkV), leafroll-associated 1, 2, 3 and 7 (GLRaV-1, GLRaV-2, GLRaV-3 GLRaV-7), B (GVA GVB). confirmed presence eight 888 (79.6%), GVA 685 (61.4%), GLRaV-1 455 (40.8%), GFkV 223 (19.9%), GFLV 219 (19.6%), GLRaV-2 46 (4.1%), ArMV 36 (3.2%)...

The aim of this work was to classifie vine growing regions Croatia using bioclimatic indices. For the analysis climatic conditions, linear trends indices were determined meteorological observations for all avaliable climatological stations located in Croatia. Analysis performed two different periods: 1961-1990 and 1988-2017. Four commonly used determined: Winkler index, Huglin Cool night index Growing season average temperature.

In order to identify possible mislabeling of the apple accession maintained ex situ in Srebrenik and gain insight into genetic structure conserved germplasm, 14 accessions from collection were genotyped using 10 SSR (Simple Sequence Repeats) markers. Obtained profiles then added an existing database constructed for previously characterized 24 traditional 13 international, reference cultivars at same collection.
