We examine effects of protein and energy intakes on height weight growth for children between 6 24 months old in Guatemala the Philippines. Using instrumental variables to control endogeneity estimating multiple specifications, we find that intake plays an important positive role 6-24 month period. Energy from other macronutrients, however, does not have a robust relation with these two anthropometric measures. Our estimates indicate contexts substantial child undernutrition, increases...
Global trends of fertility decline, population aging, and rural out-migration are creating pressures to consolidate school systems, with the rationale that economies scale will enable higher-quality education be delivered in an efficient manner, despite longer travel distances for students. Yet few studies have considered implications system consolidation educational access inequality outside context developed countries. We estimate impact infrastructure on attainment, using case China's...
Background: The representative anti-COVID-19 herbs, i.e., Poriacocos, Pogostemon, Prunus, and Glycyrrhiza plants, are commonly used in the prevention treatment of COVID-19, a pandemic caused by SARSCoV- 2. Diverse medicinal compounds with favorable activities abundant these their unique pharmacological/pharmacokinetic properties have been revealed. However, current trends drug metabolism/pharmacokinetic (DMPK) investigations herbs not systematically summarized. Methods: In this study, latest...
Abstract Precision medicine is the systematic use of information that pertains to an individual patient select or optimize patient's preventative and therapeutic care. Recent studies have classified biomarkers into predictive prognostic based on their roles in clinical studies. To design a trial for precision medicine, should both be included. In statistical analysis, are mathematically treated as covariates. We first classify covariates according roles. then provide brief review recent...
We develop an equilibrium model of the labor market to investigate joint evolution gender gaps in force participation and wages. do this overall by task-based occupation skill, which allows us study distributional effects. structurally estimate using data from Mexico over a period during women's increased fifty percent. provide new evidence that male female are closer substitutes high-paying analytical task-intensive occupations than lower-paying manual routine occupations. find demand...
Recent estimates are that about 150 million children under five years of age stunted, with substantial negative consequences for their schooling, cognitive skills, health, and economic productivity. Therefore, understanding what determines such growth retardation is significant designing public policies aim to address this issue. We build a model nutritional choices health reference-dependent preferences. Parents care the relative some reference population. In our empirical model, we use...
Congress spent $250B sending stimulus checks to individuals. Could the same have been achieved for less, assuming government's information is restricted 2019 tax returns? Using a life-cycle consumption-saving model with heterogeneous consumers, we calculate consumption responses $100 increments of cash transfers by, e.g., marital status, income, and number children. We find optimal allocation under different constraints using new algorithm that can rank an arbitrarily-large possible...
I develop and estimate a dynamic equilibrium model of risky entrepreneurs’ borrowing savings decisions incorporating both formal local-informal credit markets. Households have access to an exogenous market informal in which the interest rate is endogenously determined by local demand supply credit. via Simulated Maximum Likelihood using Thai village data during episode expansion. My estimates suggest that 49 percent reduction fixed costs increased proportion households formally 36 percent,...

With the increasing severity of global environmental issues, as an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient lighting method, green technology has attracted growing attention in its development application. However, this technological innovation encounters several challenges due to uncertainty complexity. Thus, paper explores mechanisms industry from a multidimensional perspective address issue. Considering decision-making enterprises context government decision changes, constructs...

We consider the problem of estimating top Lyapunov exponents for Markovian products positive matrices. define a new transfer operator as matrix classical operators and prove its spectral properties. With properties, we generalize (and provide more theoretically rigorous foundation for) an algorithm that was introduced informally by Bai formally Pollicott based on dynamical zeta functions.
