Cooking is the most energy-intensive activity in household sector. In developing countries, it accounts for about 90% of total domestic energy use. With this, knowledge its dynamics terms choice and use imperative. This study explored nexus between cooking Kaduna State, Northwestern Nigeria. Data were collected from 400 households with aid a structured questionnaire following multi-stage sampling approach. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze data multinomial logit regression model...
As the demand for wood and wood-based resources keeps outstripping its regeneration, forests are depleting rapidly. To curtail this, it is imperative to shift towards use of alternative raw materials such as agricultural residues. This study entails development lignocellulosic-plastic composites from Rice Husk (RH) Recycled Low-Density Polyethylene (RLDPE) binder with potential augmenting composites. Herein, RH was milled, graded into two particle sizes (2 mm 4 mm), mixed RLDPE at ratios (40...
Scientific studies on the impact of wood species solid fuel production, performance, and sustainability are grossly inadequate. The knowledge this is imperative as users fuels increasing rapidly, especially in Africa. On note, it becomes necessary to explore measures that will improve its efficiency an energy source. This study investigates some properties selected used source Nigeria their pelleting potential. Nine (9) samples were characterized assessed for suitability following four...

Silica powder with approximately 96% purity was extracted from rice husk (RH) and used as a silica source for the synthesis of zeolite Y by hydrothermal process. The effect parameters such pH, temperature burning husk, acid leaching prior to formation ash (RHA) on properties final product were studied. acid-leached calcined at 650 °C 6 h produced rough silica, light brown in colour. 400, 450 5000C 95.6wt%, 96.1wt% 95.89 wt% respectively. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) pattern obtained show that...
Abstract Noise is an unwanted sound which mostly produced by the machines, transportation systems, engines, aircraft, etc. pollution third resource that has greatly placed adverse effect on environment, human health economy. As a result, it became imperative to develop absorption medium could minimize aforementioned effects. In this study, orange peels and sachet water bags were used composite material. The materials (i.e. peel bags) prepared into six samples (that 280g of 120g...
Non-phosphate builders which are environmentally friendly required for use in detergent formulation to replace the sodium tri-poly phosphate (STPP). Phosphates excellent fertilizer algae, bacteria, and other flora fauna rivers, lakes oceans, making them bloom at very rapid rates. This exhausts oxygen supply both surface bottom layers of water bodies, leading death fishes. Sodium metasilicate a non-phosphate builder from Lokoja Quartzite was used formulate biodegradable synthetic using 25%,...
Reactivation of spent FCC catalyst for its application in the adsorption heavy metals from wastewater was investigated this research. The most effective reactivation route oxidation using H 2 O at oxidant-to-catalyst ratio 16 ml/g, contact time 60 minutes and a temperature 90 o C, followed by treatment with CH 3 COOH solution acid-to-catalyst 20 75 50 C. process monitored Scanning Electron Microscope Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), fluorescence (XRF) diffraction (XRD). result showed...
Alumina supported heterogenous base catalyst (CaO/alumina) was developed from cow bone via wet impregnation method and used with Ferric sulphate for one step transesterification of neem seed oil. Effect alumina support on ash studied process compared without support. Transesterification the oil done at 120 minutes 3 %w/w, 4 5 %w/w 6 loading 60 0 C temperature 15:1 methanol to ratio. Optimum conversion biodiesel 2 hours reaction time wt % loading, 4:1 ratio, ratio alumina. The synthesized...
Improper handling of wastewater from various industries causes environmental pollution. Hence, this study involved using a reactivated spent FCC catalyst, cheap and reliable adsorbent for Pb2+ removal refinery-based simulated wastewater. In contrast, response surface methodology (RSM) was used to determine the optimum operating condition. The adsorptive capacity catalyst observed different parameters such as temperature, pH, dosage, contact time. At end study, it found that condition...
This work investigated the optimization of process parameters for catalytic pyrolysis waste tyre using reactivated spent Fluid cracking (FCC) catalyst. The used design expert software as tool this study. A 3-factor level CCD with 20 experimental runs was temperature, time and catalyst input while oil yield, density viscosity were output variables. Thereafter, an validation optimized parameters, which not among original runs, carried out. Pyrolysis also out at conditions un-reactivated...
Cooking is the most energy-intensive activity in household sector. In developing countries, it accounts for about 90% of total domestic energy use. With this, knowledge its dynamics terms choice and use imperative. This study explored nexus between cooking Kaduna State, North Western Nigeria. A qualitative research approach was employed with aid a structured questionnaire, data collected from 400 households following multi-stage sampling approach. descriptive statistic used to analyze...
Optimum conditions for removal of Cr 2+ from refinery-based simulated wastewater by reactivated FCC catalyst were investigated in this study with the help response surface methodology (RSM). Temperature, adsorbent dose, contact time and pH process parameters considered. The results showed that a quadratic model best represented relationship between efficiency. Based on F values, temperature was found to have highest impact adsorption while had lowest impact. Maximum efficiency 94.75 %...
