Meteorite magnetism in the early solar system The young contained a disc of gas and dust within which planet formation occurred. eventually dissipated after Sun ignited planets formed, but exactly when that happened has been difficult to determine. Wang et al. measured tiny magnetic fields preserved angrites, an ancient type meteorite. They interpret drop field strength about 4 million years formed as sign had cleared—along with it carried. results will enhance our understanding formation,...
Abstract The Vicência meteorite, a stone of 1.547 kg, fell on September 21, 2013, at the village Borracha, near city Vicência, Pernambuco, Brazil. It was recovered immediately after fall, and our consortium study showed it to be an unshocked (S1) LL 3.2 ordinary chondrite. group classification is based bulk density (3.13 g cm −3 ); chondrule mean apparent diameter (0.9 mm); oxygen isotopic composition (δ 17 O = 3.768 ± 0.042‰, δ 18 5.359 Δ 0.981 0.020‰); content metallic Fe,Ni (1.8 vol%); Co...
Although the knowledge of bone histology non-avian theropods has advanced considerably in recent decades, data about tissue patterns, growth dynamics and ontogeny some taxa such as abelisauroids are still limited. Here we describe microstructure Brazilian noasaurine Vespersaurus paranaensis using five femora six tibiae quantify annual marks through retrocalculation missing ones to estimate ontogenetic ages. The femoral series comprises four histological classes (FHC I-IV), varying from two...
Abstract Zagami is a basaltic shergottite well characterized among Martian meteorites. For this reason, it used as reference sample to verify the feasibility of vibrational spectroscopy techniques. In general, these techniques seeking extract spectral signatures from individual mineral present in meteorite samples. Among some FTIR results were detected organic compounds and recorded articles. Based on results, an analysis was performed using Raman spectrometry. Examining fragment technique,...
Serra Pelada is the newest Brazilian eucrite and first recovered fall from Amazonia (State of Pará, Brazil, June 29th 2017). In this paper, we report on its petrography, chemistry, mineralogy magnetic properties. Study four thin sections reveals that meteorite brecciated, containing basaltic gabbroic clasts, as well recrystallized impact melt, embedded into a fine-medium grained matrix. Chemical analyses suggest monomict eucritic breccia, normal member HED suite. Our results provide...
Abstract On August 19, 2020, at 13:18—UTC, a meteor event ended as meteorite shower in Santa Filomena, city the Pernambuco State, northeast Brazil. The heliocentric orbital parameters resulting from images by cameras of weather broadcasting system were semimajor axis = 2.1 ± 0.1 au, eccentricity e 0.55 0.03, and inclination i 0.15 o 0.05. data identified body an Apollo object, Earth‐crossing object with pericenter interior to Earth's orbit. chemical, mineralogical, petrological evaluations,...
Abstract Chondrites are the most common meteorites in world. However, carbonaceous chondrites represent only a small fraction of those. Among them, Allende meteorite is one studied chondrites. The main objective this paper to use Raman spectral peak positions olivine as parameter chondrite classification, here, specifically, meteorite. Although these correlations not new literature, approach has been used classify yet. To develop calibration, doublet 700–1100 cm −1 region were analyzed...
The Bendegó meteorite, an iron and nickel mass weighting 5,360 kg, is the largest specimen in Brazilian collection holds a rich record of contributions to meteoritic science. Its finding 1784 hinterland Bahia State, its epic transportation National Museum (Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro) end XIX century, participation studies which lead chemical classification metallic meteorites 70´s, grant this space visitor enough credibility reinforce geologic community importance those extraterrestrial...
The Parauapebas meteorite, third official meteorite discovered in the Brazilian Amazon region, is a “hammer meteorite” which fell on December 9th, 2013, city of Parauapebas, Pará State, Brazil. Mineralogy dominated by forsterite, enstatite, iron, troilite, and tetrataenite. Albite, chromite, diopside, augite, pigeonite, taenite, merrillite are minor components. Two main clasts separated black shock-induced melt veins. One clast exhibits an abundance chondrules with well-defined margins set...

Cathodoluminescence (CL) imaging is an outstanding method for sub classification of Unequilibrated Ordinary Chondrites (UOC) - petrological type 3. CL can be obtained by several electron beam apparatuses. The traditional uses gun coupled to optical microscope (OM). Although many scanning microscopes (SEM) and microprobes (EPMA) have been equipped with a cathodoluminescence, this technique was not fully explored. Images the two methods differ due different kind signal acquisition. While in...
Abstract— The catalogue for the meteorite collection of Museu Nacional‐Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is presented. contains 45 iron meteorites, chondrites, 9 achondrites, and 5 stony‐iron meteorites. It houses 39 50 Brazilian meteorites so far reported. also includes some tektites, fulgurites, natural glasses, mislabeled not reported here.
