Sodium and chloride concentrations export increased from 1986 to 2005 in a rural stream southeastern New York. Concentrations 1.5 mg/L per year (chloride) 0.9 (sodium), 33 000 kg/year 20 (sodium) during this period. We estimate that salt used for deicing accounted 91% of the sodium input watershed, while sewage water softeners less than 10% input. Road use watershed did not increase study, but is likely have slightly due small population. Increased cannot account concentration watershed....

Abstract 1,3‐Enynes containing allylic hydrogens cis to the alkyne are shown act as one‐carbon partners, rather than two‐carbon in various rhodium‐catalyzed oxidative annulations. The mechanism of these unexpected transformations is proposed occur through double CH activation, involving a hitherto rare example 1,4‐migration Rh III species. This phenomenon general across variety substrates, and provides diverse range heterocyclic products.

Abstract The full control of positional selectivity is prime importance in C–H activation technology. Chelation assistance served as the stimulus for development a plethora ortho -selective arene functionalizations. In sharp contrast, meta functionalizations continue to be scarce, with all ruthenium-catalysed transformations currently requiring difficult remove or modify nitrogen-containing heterocycles. Herein, we describe unifying concept access wealth -decorated arenes by unique ligand...

Abstract Chiral cyclopentadienyl rhodium complexes promote highly enantioselective enol‐directed C(sp 2 )‐H functionalization and oxidative annulation with alkynes to give spiroindenes containing all‐carbon quaternary stereocenters. High selectivity between two possible directing groups, as well control of the direction rotation in isomerization an O ‐bound enolate into C isomer, appear be critical for high enantiomeric excesses.

Abstract The dearomatizing oxidative annulation of 2‐alkenylphenols with alkynes and enynes proceeds high yields regioselectivities under Rh III catalysis. These reactions are successful using Cu(OAc) 2 or air as the stoichiometric oxidant, provide spirocyclic enones, basic ring system which appears in several natural products. Application this process to preparation a highly functionalized tetracycle is also demonstrated.
