Sodium and chloride concentrations export increased from 1986 to 2005 in a rural stream southeastern New York. Concentrations 1.5 mg/L per year (chloride) 0.9 (sodium), 33 000 kg/year 20 (sodium) during this period. We estimate that salt used for deicing accounted 91% of the sodium input watershed, while sewage water softeners less than 10% input. Road use watershed did not increase study, but is likely have slightly due small population. Increased cannot account concentration watershed....
A series of deletion and truncation mutants protein kinase C (PKC) were expressed in the baculovirusinsect cell expression system order to elucidate ability various domains enzyme bind phor-bo1 dibutyrate (PDBu).A PKC mutant consisting only catalytic domain did not [3H]PDBu, whereas a regulatory (containing tandem cysteine-rich putative zinc finger regions) bound [3H]PDBu.Deletion second conserved region (C2) abolish [3H]PDBu binding, first ( l ) PKC, containing two sequences, completely...
Abstract 1,3‐Enynes containing allylic hydrogens cis to the alkyne are shown act as one‐carbon partners, rather than two‐carbon in various rhodium‐catalyzed oxidative annulations. The mechanism of these unexpected transformations is proposed occur through double CH activation, involving a hitherto rare example 1,4‐migration Rh III species. This phenomenon general across variety substrates, and provides diverse range heterocyclic products.
Abstract The full control of positional selectivity is prime importance in C–H activation technology. Chelation assistance served as the stimulus for development a plethora ortho -selective arene functionalizations. In sharp contrast, meta functionalizations continue to be scarce, with all ruthenium-catalysed transformations currently requiring difficult remove or modify nitrogen-containing heterocycles. Herein, we describe unifying concept access wealth -decorated arenes by unique ligand...
Prioritization of compounds based on human hepatotoxicity potential is currently a key unmet need in drug discovery, as it can become major problem for several lead later stages the discovery pipeline. The authors report validation and implementation high-content multiparametric cytotoxicity assay simultaneous measurement 8 cell health indicators associated with nuclear morphology, plasma membrane integrity, mitochondrial function, proliferation. Compounds are prioritized by (a) computing an...
Abstract Chiral cyclopentadienyl rhodium complexes promote highly enantioselective enol‐directed C(sp 2 )‐H functionalization and oxidative annulation with alkynes to give spiroindenes containing all‐carbon quaternary stereocenters. High selectivity between two possible directing groups, as well control of the direction rotation in isomerization an O ‐bound enolate into C isomer, appear be critical for high enantiomeric excesses.
Abstract Methods for positionally selective remote C−H functionalizations are in high demand. Herein, we disclose the first heterogeneous ruthenium catalyst meta ‐selective functionalizations, which enabled halogenations with excellent site selectivity and ample scope. The versatile Ru@SiO 2 was broadly applicable could be easily recovered reused, set stage direct fluorescent labeling of purines. In contrast to palladium, rhodium, iridium, or cobalt complexes, solely catalysis manifold...
Abstract The dearomatizing oxidative annulation of 2‐alkenylphenols with alkynes and enynes proceeds high yields regioselectivities under Rh III catalysis. These reactions are successful using Cu(OAc) 2 or air as the stoichiometric oxidant, provide spirocyclic enones, basic ring system which appears in several natural products. Application this process to preparation a highly functionalized tetracycle is also demonstrated.
Abstract 1,3‐Enynes containing allylic hydrogens cis to the alkyne function as three‐carbon components in rhodium(III)‐catalyzed, all‐carbon [3+3] oxidative annulations produce spirodialins. The proposed mechanism of these reactions involves alkenyl‐to‐allyl 1,4‐rhodium(III) migration.
Abstract Results from a field trial commissioned for the Australian Department of Defence at Army Aviation Centre Oakey evaluated effectiveness Surface‐Active Foam Fractionation (SAFF) process removing per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in groundwater. The study showed that SAFF is effective ≥99.5% aggregate perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), perfluorohexane (PFHxS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) PFAS‐contaminated groundwater, consistently achieved criteria these PFAS species...

The Rh(III)-catalyzed oxidative C-H allylation of N-acetylbenzamides with 1,3-dienes is described. presence allylic hydrogens cis to the less substituted alkene 1,3-diene important for success these reactions. With assistance reactions using deuterated 1,3-dienes, a proposed mechanism provided. key step postulated be first reported examples allyl-to-allyl 1,4-Rh(III) migration.
Aeration of water contaminated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) derived from the historical use aqueous film-forming foams used in firefighting training incident responses has been demonstrated to promote separation/concentration PFAS by adsorptive bubble fractionation. This study examined efficacy changes environmental process parameters, salinity, temperature, aeration time on removal efficiency absence additional amphiphilic substances, such as co-surfactants. The results...

Abstract This article presents the results from a commercial‐scale field trial of Surface‐Active Foam Fractionation (SAFF) process for removal per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) landfill leachate catchment at Telge Recycling plant, Sweden. There have been 23 sampling events PFAS influent effluent concentrations over course 10 months, during which approximately 80,000 m 3 feed has successfully treated without need complex pretreatment. The contracted throughput was 330 per day...
In addition to kinases and G protein-coupled receptors, proteases are one of the main targets in modern drug discovery. Caspases viral proteases, for instance, potential new drugs. To satisfy current need fast sensitive high-throughput screening inhibitors, homogeneous protease assays needed. We used a caspase-3 assay as model develop time-resolved fluorescence quenching technology. The utilizes peptide labeled with both luminescent europium chelate quencher. Cleavage by separates quencher...
We establish the equivalence of two definitions invariants measuring Galois module structure K-groups rings integers in number fields (due to Chinburg et al. on one hand and authors other). also make some remarks concerning possibility yet another such definition via Lichtenbaum complexes.
Abstract The following is proved: If G graph of order p (≥2) and size ‐2, then there exists an isomorphic embedding into its complement.
