This study aimed to evaluate the effects of nitrate (NO3–N) in juvenile mullet freshwater. Experiment 1 evaluated LC50-96h fish at five different NO3–N concentrations (0.01, 85.32, 462.12, 851.25 and 955.25 mg L−1). 2 haematological oxidative stress variables exposed four 8.16, 33.83 52.66 L−1) for 5 days. The safe concentration 96 h was 60.61 L−1. In experiment 2, blood glucose values were lower subjected L−1 compared with other treatments on day 1. On 5, two highest had erythrocytes levels...

This study aimed to verify the effects of interaction between different temperatures (~18, ~23 and ~ 28°C) with dissolved oxygen levels (~2.0, ~4.5 7.0 mg O2 L-1) re-oxygenation rates (0.5 5 hr) after hypoxia in pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus). In experiment 1, fish were exposed hypoxia, mild or normoxia at low, medium high temperature for 12 hr. 2, hr and, rapid gradual was performed a return achieved 0.5 blood glucose pH higher hypoxic treatment. The haematocrit erythrocyte values lower low...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the anaesthetic efficacy and effect sedation with tricaine (TMS®), also known as MS-222, on secondary oxidative stress parameters in juvenile tambaqui, Colossoma macropomum transported hyperoxia for 2, 6 10 hr. Juveniles were placed aquaria containing six different concentrations buffered (150, 180, 210, 240, 270 300 mg/L) times anaesthesia induction recovery determined. Fish hyperoxic conditions investigated glycemia, ionic concentration (K+, Ca++, Na+)...

The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of benzocaine and tricaine methanesulfonate on oxidative stress parameters juvenile tambaqui tissues. Fish (n=80) were anesthetized with (100 mg L-1) or (240 two control groups used (non-anesthetized fish exposed ethanol-only). After anesthetic induction 10 fish/anesthetic euthanized after 3, 12 24 hours post-anesthesia tissue samplings (gills, liver brain) performed. Samples submitted analyses enzyme activity glutathione-S-transferase (GST),...

Abstract This study investigated the secondary stress responses of Paralichthys orbignyanus exposed to ammonia and nitrite after recovery. Fish were 0.12, 0.28, 0.57 mg NH 3 ‐N/L, or 5.72, 10.43, 15.27 NO 2 ‐N/L for 10 d followed by same time length Ammonia‐ nitrite‐free water was used as a control treatment. Blood samples collected 1, 5, exposure presented lower higher glucose levels recovery, respectively. Ammonia induced initial transient ionic disturbances metabolic alkalosis. Nitrite...

This study evaluated the acute toxicity and sublethal effects of nitrite on oxidative stress parameters in early juvenile Brazilian flounder, Paralichthys orbignyanus. Fish were exposed to six concentrations nitrite: 20, 40, 80, 170, 330 550 mg NO2−N-L−1, plus a control with no added nitrite, all triplicate for 96 h.
