Objective To evaluate the performance of a novel immunochromatographic card test (TRURAPID® O.K.N.V.I. RESIST-5) for rapid detection five carbapenemase enzymes in metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL) producing organisms, compared to real-time PCR and an advanced expert system. Methods Isolated clinically 100 non-duplicates multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacilli (GNB) expressing MBL production were tested using IC card, PCR, Vitek-2 Advanced Expert System (AES). Sensitivity, specificity,...

A 5-year-old male, drowsy, jaundiced child presented with fulminant hepatitis and had HAV HEV infection. He hepatic encephalopathy grade 1, fever, pallor, hypotension, crepitations in his right lung base hepatosplenomegaly dyspnoea. highly raised liver enzymes hypoalbuminemia (2.8 g/dl) but anemia (hemoglobin of 7.7 g/dl 5.7 2 days later), reticulocytopenia severe thrombocytopenia (44 × 109/l) were unexplained. Parvovirus B19-specific IgM antibodies B19 DNA found the serum child. Chest X-ray...

Introduction Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common bacterial encountered in community and healthcare settings. Increasing antimicrobial resistance patterns worldwide have limited treatment options available. Overuse carbapenems which were considered as last resort for multi-drug resistant UTIs over past decade has led to emergence carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE). Ceftazidime-avibactam is a novel beta-lactam inhibitor combination drug indicated complicated...

There are few reports of "microfilaria in the urine." We report an elderly woman with gross hematuria who was being investigated for urinary tract tuberculosis. Three consecutive urine samples showed microfilaria Wuchereria bancrofti. However, she did not have chyluria. Treatment diethylcarbamazine cleared up within 3 days. Chyluria, hematuria, and hematochyluria problems Bancroftian filariasis reported worldwide. The literature review made to present a simplified way management.

Introduction Dermatophytosis is a common infection of the skin, hair, and nails caused by dermatophytes, group filamentous fungi capable digesting obtaining nutrients from keratin. Dermatophytes comprise three important genera: Epidermophyton, Microsporum, Trichophyton. This study aimed to analyze antifungal susceptibility patterns Trichophyton mentagrophytes isolates using epsilometer test (E-test) method. Material methods prospective observational was conducted on clinically suspected...

Background: Healthcare-associated diarrhea (HCAD) is that develops at least after 3 days of hospitalization, with the most common infectious cause being Clostridioides difficile.Over last decade, there has been a remarkable growth in frequency and severity C. difficile infection (CDI), making it one prevalent healthcare-associated infections. This study aimed to analyze prevalence risk factors associated CDI. Materials methods: A total 107 patients clinical suspicion having HCAD were included...

Abstract Aspergillus spp . are fungi which mostly nonpathogenic, but some species such as fumigatus , flavus and niger can cause aspergillosis in humans. Aspergillosis manifest pulmonary or extrapulmonary infections, with respiratory involvement being common infections other body parts rare. Urinary aspergillosis, an uncommon manifestation of infection, presents unique challenges diagnosis management due to its rarity varied clinical presentations. It is seen immunocompromised individuals,...

Lymphatic filariasis leading to the passage of white urine or chyle is a rare manifestation in children. Filarial parasite infiltration abnormal lymphatic-urinary communication occurs with prolonged infection. The incubation period ranges from 5 20 yrs., thus relatively infrequent pediatric age group. Index suspicion should be high when child presents because subclinical filarial infection difficult recognize. Moreover, more pathognomonic clinical manifestations such as lymphoedema...

Fungal renal abscesses are rare entities associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Affected kidneys can have microabscess, pyelonephritis, pyonephrosis, or papillary necrosis.Herein, we reported an unusual case of a large abscess cause by Candida tropicalis in diabetic patient. Abstract Background: Carbapenems are among the last resorts in managing multidrug-resistant bacterial infections. The rise resistance to carbapenems is a significant concern, and production of carbapenemases that inactivate drug most typical mode developed by bacteria. Carbapenemase-producing bacteria associated with higher morbidity spread faster than noncarbapenemase-producing Detection essential for epidemiological surveillance choosing efficient antimicrobial patient.
