The hierarchical nature of additively manufactured materials necessitates a multimodal approach for quantifying microstructural features and corresponding chemical heterogeneities that ultimately impact their properties performance. In laser powder-bed fusion (L-PBF) 316L stainless steel, corrosion behavior has been discussed in the context formed presence these microstructures. Here, we employ suite advanced synchrotron x-ray techniques correlative transmission electron microscopy analysis...
This study examined three attitudinal dimensions of coupon usage. A review the literature suggested that price consciousness, time value, and satisfaction/pride are major motivational factors determine usage by consumers. Measurement these variables, using Likert‐type items, revealed acceptable levels reliability. The were found to relate as hypothesized. Further, significant differences in predicted direction between users nonusers. Managerial implications recommendations provided.
The unique ability of grain boundaries to act as effective sinks for radiation damage plays a significant role in nanocrystalline materials due their large interfacial area per unit volume. Leveraging this mechanism the design tungsten plasma-facing material provides potential pathway enhancing its tolerance under fusion-relevant conditions. In study, we explore impact defect microstructures on mechanical behavior helium ion implanted through nanoindentation. Softening was apparent across...
Quantum dipoles go liquid spin liquids do not achieve an ordered magnetic state, even at the lowest temperatures. Hassan et al. studied organic compound that may be both a and dipole (see Perspective by Powell). In layered material κ-(BEDT-TTF) 2 Hg(SCN) Br, molecules form charged dimers whose sites are arranged on triangular lattice. The extra charge associated with each dimer can “live” one of two in dimer, resulting nonzero electric moment for dimer. Raman spectroscopy heat capacity...
William Cunningham (1849–1919) was a prominent British economist and economic historian. In this book, which first published in 1905 as the second edition of 1904 original, presents historical discussion free trade movement its limitations light contemporary developments. Profiles Adam Smith Richard Cobden are included, together with detailed notes, incorporated throughout. The text based upon series lectures delivered at Cambridge University during Michaelmas Term 1903. It will be value...
William Cunningham (1849–1919) was a prominent British economist and economic historian. Originally published in 1916, this book presents the content of series lectures that were delivered by at London School Economics Political Science during spring 1915. The text provides concise study regarding development capitalism Britain nature history more broadly. A bibliography is also included. This will be value to anyone with an interest economics, history.
With significant improvement in High Temperature Superconductors (HTS), several projects are adopting HTS technology for fusion power systems. Compact tokamaks offer potential advantages including lower plant costs, enhanced plasma control, and ultimately cost of electricity. However, as compact reactors have a reduced radial build to accommodate shielding, degradation due radiation damage or heating is potentially design limiting issue. Shielding must mitigate threats the superconducting...
The use of ultrafine and nanocrystalline materials is a proposed pathway to mitigate irradiation damage in nuclear fusion components. Here, we examine the radiation tolerance helium bubble formation 85 nm (average grain size) nanocrystalline-equiaxed-grained tungsten an tungsten-TiC alloy under extreme low energy implantation at 1223 K via in-situ transmission electron microscope (TEM). Helium evolution terms number density, size, total volume contribution matrices has been determined as...
