ABSTRACT: In this retrospective study, the clinical and anatomopathological findings of fungal diseases in dogs cats Northeastern Brazil are described. During study period, 6,827 histopathological examinations (4,090 necropsies 2,737 biopsies) companion animals were reviewed, infections diagnosed 54 cases. Of these, 32 cases 22 dogs. Sporotrichosis was most prevalent mycosis (19/54), followed by dermatophytosis (9/54), cryptococcosis (8/54), candidiasis (7/54), phaeohyphomycosis (4/54)....
ABSTRACT We report a case of intestinal intussusception secondary to enteritis caused by Pythium insidiosum infection in 1-year-old mixed breed bitch that died after 30-day history bloody diarrhea, anorexia, weight loss, listlessness, dehydration, and pale mucous membranes. Necropsy revealed two areas intussusception, one jejunum-jejunal ileum-cecum-colic. The first showed slight congestion the loop, which was resolved manual traction, while second exhibited thickening, irregular yellow...
Background: Candidosis is an opportunistic fungal infection caused by yeasts of the genus Candida, which normally reside on surfaces mucous membranes and in skin several animal species healthy humans; however fungi can convert into pathogenic microorganisms result invasive infections with systemic involvement due to impairment immune system. Systemic candidosis rare dogs few reports this mycosis are available literature. Therefore, objective study was describe three cases candidiasis...

The objective of this study was to describe the clinical, pathological, and immunohistochemistry characteristics five cases toxoplasmosis, an infection often associated with distemper in dogs. From January 2000 December 2012, a retrospective performed analyzed dogs semiarid region Paraíba. We evaluated sample focus on individuals who presented concomitant structures protozoa characteristics, (IHC) tests using polyclonal anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibody. In all...
Background: Cladophialophora bantiana is a dematiaceous fungus that causes phaeohyphomycosis, generic term used to describe variety of unusual mycoses caused by fungi have melanin in their cell wall. C. targets the central nervous system, commonly causing localized brain infections may result disseminated infections. In Brazil, minimal phaeohyphomycosis data are available, and information about animals, especially canines, scarce. Thus, aim this study was clinical pathological aspects...
Background: Equine sarcoid, supposed to be caused by infection with bovine papillomavirus type 1 or 2, is usually observedin previously traumatized skin areas, including lesions of habronemosis due inoculation third stage larvae in ulcerated wounds Musca domestica Stomoxys calcitrans. Little known about the occurrence diseases associated equine mainly because limitations on clinical diagnosis, different that have beconsidered as differential diagnoses. This report aimed describe three cases...
ABSTRACT: This study discusses the epidemiological, clinical, and pathological characteristics of two outbreaks ocular infection in ostriches (Struthio camelus) caused by trematode Philophthalmus sp. The occurred states Ceará Rio Grande do Norte Northeast Brazil. ABSTRACT: We described a case of rhinitis caused by Exserohilum rostratum in 3-year-old, mixed breed, afemale goat, presenting with decreased appetite, dyspnea, and face deformity, evolution approximately 2 months. Necropsy revealed an extensive brownish yellow, irregular, ulcerated, friable focal lesion the nasal cavity. Purulent secretion drained from lesion, affecting vestibule extending caudal portion dorsal concha, associated meatus obstruction, destruction septum, bone palatine vomer....
ABSTRACT: Spontaneous and experimental poisoning by Tephrosia cinerea in the northeastern semiarid region of Brazil has only been described sheep. Pathologically, such leads to ascites centrilobular liver fibrosis. However, these effects require an study goats. This aimed determine goats’ susceptibility ingestion T. minimum toxic dose, describing main clinical anatomopathological findings. Poisoning was reproduced experimentally one sheep that received 10g/kg ground plant two goats, first...
ABSTRACT: We described a case of systemic infection by Coccidioides sp. in dog. An adult, mixed breed, free-ranging male dog presented with clinical signs that included apathy, cachexia, anorexia, limited mobility sternal recumbency, bilateral mucopurulent ocular discharge, dyspnoea, pulmonary crepitation, erosive and nodular lesions on the skin, swelling stiffness left tibiotarsal joint. The was submitted to postmortem examination. Grossly, there were multiple yellow white nodules various...
Background: Strongyloides stercoralis is a nematode that causes intestinal infection in vertebrate hosts, especially humans and dogs. The species S. responsible for chronic asymptomatic infections adult dogs or serious puppies immunosuppressed animals. In Brazil, natural was demonstrated by coproparasitological serological methods, however, there are no reports address the clinicopathological characteristics of canine species. Thus, this paper aims to describe epidemiological, clinical...

Background: Cyathostomosis is the infection by nematode larvae of small strongyles belonging to subfamily Cyathos tominae (cyathostome). It primarily a disease young horses with global distribution. The parasites cause severe injuries intestine and clinically affected animals have diarrhea, colic, intussusception, less frequently intestinal infarction. aim this study describe pathological fndings enteritis cyathostome on donkey in Brazil.Case: A (Equus asinus), crossbred female mongrel,...
ABSTRACT: We described a case of cerebral infarction and thrombotic meningoencephalitis due to candidiasis in seven-month-old calf. The death occurred three days after the onset apathy, fever, head’s lateral deviation left. Macroscopic changes brain consisted asymmetry telencephalic hemispheres; right hemisphere was enlarged, causing cerebellar herniation. A focally extensive red area observed on surface occipital lobe. At cross-sections fixed brain, lesions revealed be extensive, red-brown,...
